An offsite- training camp was organized for 90 students of Ranka Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Lingee Govt. S. Sec. School, Lingmoo Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Lingdok Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Mangshila Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Hee-Gyathang Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Chujachen Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Mangalbaria Sr. Sec. School and Kaluk Sr. Sec. School. The students were escorted by their respective teacher coordinators.
Offsite training Camp, where students learn various aspects of substance abuse including life skills, teamwork and time management. The camp focus on promoting young people by reducing risks, intervening in unhealthy behaviours and nurturing protection. The various sessions were organized to help peer-educators develop the knowledge and skills needed to work them at the school level and reduce behavioural health disparities and improve the well-being of fellow students.
The first session was on life skills and the objective of the session was to promote positive health practices and reduce risky behaviour. Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour, that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Mr Manorath Dahal, a trained teacher coordinator was the resource person for said session. The second session was Basic counselling by Mr Pragyan Deep Dewan, a Professional Counselor who gave a brief idea of counselling to the students; the third one was Legal aspects of substance abuse by Mr C. K. Subba, SI from Ravangla Police station, who highlighted the legal aspects of substance abuse. The last session was experience sharing by Mr K.C.Nima of Freedom Facility.
The camp concluded with a feedback and confession sessions with the students and sharing session of teacher coordinators from all the schools.
