Health Minister inaugurates Shantinagar Ranikhola Cricket Academy

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 13: Dr. MK Sharma, Hon'ble Minister, Health and Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim inaugurated the first Cricket Academy at Khamdong- Singtam Constituency. Shantinagar Ranikhola Cricket Academy is started under the sports wing of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti, Singtam.

Dr. Sharma in his Chief Guest address said the cricket academy would benefit the youngsters of the constituency and nearby regions. Cricket is a popular game and it will surely motivate players to perform at the highest level, he added. He appreciated the efforts of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. 

The executive members of Shantinagar Ranikhola Cricket Academy were introduced to the Chief Guest. Those included Krishna Chettri – President, Kanhaiya Prasad – Vice President, Shital Pradhan – General Secretary, Arpan Pradhan & Kunal Singh – Treasurer and Ashsish Singh – Operation Head – Academy cum Coach)

Present on the occasion were M Narayan Sharma, RO - Singtam Forest Department, SK Chettri, OC - Singtam Police Station, LN Pradhan, Chief Advisor – SGSS, TB Pradhan, Advisor – SGSS, Sangay Bhutia, President, JVC, Rinzing Bhutia, ATTC, Nandu Dutraj, senior journalist and members of SGSS. Four cricket players from Khamdong- Singtam Constituency who had represented Sikkim at Ranji Trophy were also present on the historic day. Those players included Padam Limboo, Faizan Khan and Jahauddin; also present was Chandru Chettri, Sikkim under-23 player from Singtam.

On the day, registration form was distributed to the first ten registered players from the hand of Dr. MK Sharma, Chief Guest of the day. Krishna Chettri, President, SRCA congratulated and shared best wishes to the players of the cricket academy. He said, there is no short cut to success and if anyone wants to succeed. One has to follow a disciplined lifestyle. We, Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti have provided the platform and it is up to each individual to grab the opportunity and succeed in the game. Chettri further said, SGSS is committed to the betterment of the society.
