After the inclusion of Northeast States as the full member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2018, Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) is working tirelessly for the development of infrastructure in the State. Impressed by the functioning of SICA in terms of Cricket development, Sikkim was the first State among the new full members to whom the BCCI sanctioned the development of a proper cricket ground, of which the first phase has already been completed and functioning properly.
In the recent visit of the BCCI Secretary Mr. Jay Shah to Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, he was impressed the way SICA is working and appreciated the way SICA is maintaining its budget and felt that there is an urgent need of developing the indoor facilities as the state has a long monsoon and the players are unable to practice properly and sets them back when the season starts in September. Considering the same and taking the matter to the BCCI, the Board has announced that an indoor facility will be made with a gymnasium and a swimming pool which the players can use during the monsoon.
The Board has asked the State Associations to identify the location for the facilities and send the details to BCCI at the earliest.
My sincere Thanks the Hony Secretary of BCCI for his proactive initiatives in providing early redressal to our nagging issues for our players. Special thanks to our HCM of Sikkim for his continuous support and guidance to SICA, says SICA President Mr Lobzang G Tenzing.
