Rongli’s Riverine Elementary School starts Shiv Lata free education scholarship

March 3, Singtam: Manzil Chettri and Anmol Rai became the first recipients of the 1st Shiv Lata Free Education Scholarship initiated by Riverine Elementary School, Rongli. Eleven students that had passed out class v exams from different schools both government and private schools had participated in the examination held two weeks back at the school. 

The scholarship was supported by the family members of Late Siba Narayan Pradhan and Late Nirlata Pradhan. Siba Narayan Pradhan was a former Head-Sir of Middle English School, Rongli that is today known as Kumari Pema Tsedeun Secondary School.

Damber Pradhan, Incharge 20 Chujachen was the Chief Guest of the day. Other distinguished guests included Sabnam Golay, Headmistress Kumari Pema Tsedeun Secondary School, Gyatsola Bhutia, President Chujachen Sports Academy, Krishna Chettri, President Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti, families of Shiv Lata, guardians, and students of the Riverine Elementary School.

One of its kind scholarships started by any private school in Sikkim, this Shiv Lata Scholarship gives an opportunity for free education at Riverine Elementary School from class vi and above. Each year two students will get an opportunity at this facility. The scholarship helps the BPL category students get a chance for a better education. The family members of Shiv Lata feel that this small help would surely benefit students to do wonders in their life ahead, reads the press release.

The day-long program had a cultural presentation, fashion show, talent hunt performed by the students of Riverine Elementary School. Santosh Rai, Vice Principal of the school was the host of the day. The press release also thanks Dr. Sushen Pradhan, Chairman RES, Anamika Pradhan, Director, RES, school staff, guardians, and Shiv Lata family members for the successful event.
