School Health Club 2021 started at Sakyong Chisopani JHS

20.03.21: Mental Fitness Week was observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS. On the occasion, the School Health Club for the new session was also announced. Twelve students from classes iv to class viii were selected for the club. Satish Chandra Pradhan, Headmaster of the school offered khadas to Miss Dina Rai - Health Prefect and Master Anikit Thapa – Vice Health Prefect and gave his best wishes to the team. Nirmala Chettri, Binita Pradhan and Shital Pradhan, and the Teacher Incharge of the club.

Anamika Gurung, a class vii student who had recently participated at the District Level Junior Olympics was given a prize as an encouragement for her by the School Health Club. She had represented the school at a 60-meter athletic event.


The Mental Fitness program was held in two phases. Nirmala Chettri shared information on different aspects of mental well beings. She spoke about different problems and also talked about their solutions. She even shared her experience during the interactive session with the students.

Recreational games were played among the students of both primary and upper primary. This session was done by Binita Pradhan. Students were given different cards having alphabets and words. The students had to pick up the alphabet card and make meaningful words. Similarly, for upper primary students,  they had to come up with complete sentences from a given jumbled word card.

Satish Chandra Pradhan, HM covering up the day’s program spoke about the benefits of such health-related activity. He informed the gathered students that the school shall have different club activities each Saturday and Wednesday. Aditya Rai, class viii also spoke about mental fitness.

On that day, Sikkim Citizens, Subject holder (Sikkimese) became Indian Citizen according to “Sikkim (Citizenship) Order, 1975” which says “Every person who immediately before the 26th day of April, 1975 was a Sikkim Subject under the Sikkim Subject Regulation 1961, shall be deemed to have become a citizen of India on that day”. As the Indian Constitution does not provide dual citizenship and there exist only citizenship for the whole of country, therefore, the regulation which provided Sikkim Citizenship (Subjects) commonly known as “Sikkim Subject Regulation Act, 1961” was repealed on 13th Sep 1975 according to “Adaptation of Sikkim Laws (No.1) Order” power conferred by clause (l) of Article 371-F of the Constitution which took effect from 26th April 1975 (appointed day). The last Chogyal (King) of Sikkim

BY SHITAL PRADHAN I was not born when Sikkim became the 22nd state of the Indian Union, and the only information I have about the political identity of my Sikkim comes from literary knowledge and conversations with elderly people. I personally believe that no nation can develop unless its history, culture, and heritage are preserved. Sikkim, though now part of India, bears the responsibility of every Sikkimese to safeguard its past glory. Interestingly, a few days ago, my college-going nephew surprised me when he mentioned that a man named STNM could be the last Chogyal, while one of my colleagues added that TNA and TNSSS also bear the name of the last Chogyal. Well, is this the future of Sikkim? If we cannot enable the younger generation to connect with the facts and authenticity of Sikkim, the state will surely lose its vivacious historical pages.
