SDF celebrates 16th Foundation Day

The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front had given a call to all its members and supporters to celebrate the party’s 16th Foundation Day in a dignified manner.The call was well taken by the rank and file of the party and its supporters as it was evident from the impressive and vibrant gathering at Jorethang playground for the celebration this year.Founder president of SDF and Cheif Minister Dr. Pawan Chamling, who was chief guest, asserted in his address “we have achieved 50 per cent of our developement plan for Sikkim in the last 14 years, especially in the fields like education and health, which has been possible for the pro-poor policy of the SDf Government”.
In the meeting Chief Minister declared compulsory health insurance for the people below poverty line (BPL) in order to improve their health condition. He informed that work is underway “to make Sikkim an Eco-city State”.
Several resoulations unanimously passed on the occassion include, inclusion of Gurung, Kirat, Rai, Manger, Bhujel and others in the central list of Schedule Caste and Chhetri-Bahun and Newar as OBC; inclusion of Limboo Language in the Eight Schedule of Indian Constitutation; and Seat reservation for Limboo- Tamang Community in Sikkim Legislative Assembly
