SINGTAM, DECEMBER 1:   Sadbhawana Samiti, Singtam condoles the death of Ganesh Rai, former President of the organization today. The press release reads a small meeting was held at Sadhbhawana Samiti office where more than 20 members paid tribute to the departed soul. Ganesh Rai was the former President of organization and his contribution towards the society is irreplaceable reads the release. SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 25: In a small gathering at Singtam, Dinesh Dahal and Nimesh Dahal participants of ‘Himali Pratibha ko Khoj’ were congratulated by the members of Singtam Basibiyalo. The D ahal brothers had participated in the recently concluded state-level ‘Himali Pratibha ko Khoj’ in a separate category where Dinesh Dahal stood fourth in the singing category while Nimesh Dahal, his younger brother went on to bag the third position in the instrumental category. SINGTAM, JULY 14: Mohan Pradhan ‘Neeraj’, Sansthapak Singtam Basibiyalo was awarded a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for his contribution towards society through the platform of ‘Basibiyalo’ at 199 th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration held at Timi bazaar. The citation and shawl was presented to Neeraj by Evanarayan Nepal, noted literary persona who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The 199 th Bhanu Jayanti Celebration held at Timi bazaar was a Constituency Level Celebration of Timi Namphing Constituency. “Jatiya Ekta Diwas” was the theme of the event. Sikkim became part of the mighty Indian Union in 1975, and in the last 37 years, a small Himalayan kingdom has transformed itself into one of the most beautiful tourist centers in the world. The same year, a milestone was accomplished in Sikkim in the world of Indian Cinema, but more than three decades later, the story seems forgotten by the wheel of the clock. I wanted to be part of the history of reintroducing the stories of Romeo in Sikkim, a Hindi film with a few landmarks still unknown to many. Romeo in Sikkim is the first Hindi film produced by Sikkim and the first Nepali actor to lead in a Bollywood film (Shyam Pradhan). Shyam Pradhan went on to act in another film, the first Hindi-Nepali bilingual feature film that never saw the light of day. SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 21: Singtam Basibiyalo , a popular monthly cultural and literature meet has decided not to hold its September 25 episode owing to the natural disaster that shattered the entire Sikkim State along with other nearby regions. Mohan Pradhan ‘Neeraj’, Sasthapak of Singtam Basibiyalo had informed that members of Singtam Basibiyalo are highly saddened by the loss of lives and property caused by the earthquake that occurred to our state on the evening of September 18. We also pray for the speedy recovery of all those who were injured. Since we (the town of Singtam) are also recovering from the Sunday evening frightening incident we have jointly decide not to hold our monthly program, added TB Pradhan, Advisor Singtam Basibiyalo.

Highlight of the day was the audition round of the school level Nepali poetry competition for the Bhanu Jayanti celebration. More than 12 schools from neighbouring region had participated in the competition. The website www.kapilthapaa.com is designed by BP Bajgain and shall be updated by Shital Pradhan. Kapil Thapa was also felicitated for his contribution towards music on the occasion.
