SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 25: Members of Alpine Philately and Numismatic Society (APNS), Darjeeling - Mrs. Nilema Yonzone, Mr. Anand Yonzone and students of North Point Academy, a school in Singamari, Darjeeling won 2 bronze medals and a Special School Collection Prize at the State Level Philatelic Competition WEBPEX ‘Ekla Chalo Re -2019’. The 6 days exhibition was held at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata from the 16th to the 21st of November 2019. The two Philatelists representing APNS won bronze medals with their thematic Philatelic exhibits titled ‘Woman Empowerment and ‘The Postal System’ under the single frame category. Students of classes 4 and 5 of North Point Academy (NPA), Darjeeling also won Special School Collection Prize for their collective school collection. SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 21: Sikkim won two silver and three bronze medals at Ekla Cholo Re 2019, West Bengal State Philatelic exhibition held at Kolkata. The philatelic exhibition was held from November 16-22 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Maidan, Kolkata. Roshan Prasad and Sishir Pradhan won Silver for their exhibits ‘ The story of Cricket’ and ‘The World of Football’ . Ganesh Kumar Pradhan, Sunita Gurung, and Tanishka Pradhan won three bronze medals for their exhibits Philatelic Exhibition of India, Special Cover Issued in Sikkim, and Jawaharlal Nehru. Hill Boys’ United FC team PRESS RELEASE FROM Hill Boys United Hill Boys’ United FC, a club formed in Kolkata by a group of youths hailing from the hills of Darjeeling and Sikkim won its second match of the League stage at the prestigious Calcutta Parsee Club 5 a side Football Tournament on April 17th. Hills Boys defeated Shining Stars Club 3-2 in a hard-fought encounter. The Boys came from behind twice to earn this victory showing in the process the never say die attitude of the Youths from the hills. Shining Stars took the lead in the first half and it remained that way till halftime. But in the second half, Loden Lepcha with a stinging shot brought back the Hill Boys into the game but the equalizer was short-lived as Shining Stars again took the lead. PRESS RELEASE FROM Hill Boys United Hill Boys United FC, the team sponsored by kolkatafootball.com and co-sponsored by Hill-Queen Travels, won its first match of the Kolkata Parsee Club 5- a side invitational Football Tournament today at Kolkata Parsee Club Maidan. They beat the Street Ballers Club of Kolkata by 3 - 0. A 21-year-old promising Hill Boys United Striker Jigmi Dorjee scored a hat trick in the match. The first half result was goalless. The 16 teams Football tournament started on the 10th where the Winner's prize money is Rs. 25,000. Being a 5-a-side game, the duration of the match was 15 minutes in each half. The team Street Ballers, which Hill Boys United defeated, was also a good side but they ran out of steam in the second half and Hill Boys took full advantage of this and scored all three goals in the second half. It is really nice to hear about the assured assistance of the Chief Minister of Sikkim in Priyanka Tiwari's death mystery. According to the news published in Voice of Sikkim, the deceased father K. Tiwari had a meeting with the Chief Minister on Thursday and placed all the related documents. CM had assured to take the matter seriously to the Central Home Ministry and also seek for CBI investigation.   Chief Minister further told that our Sikkimese youths who are studying and working across the country and outside the country will be fully escorted by whatever lawful means. Treating this incident as most unlikely for Sikkim, the Priyanka Tiwari case will be justified thoroughly, he said. Roshan Prasad, 23 yr old from Singtam, Sikkim pursuing his Charter Accountant studies from the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India in Kolkata was interviewed on Aakash Bangla Channel, a local TV channel from Kolkata for his collections on cricket and football memorabilia. The program was aired on November 13 th a Bengali sports program “Khel at 11”.  Talking from Kolkata, Roshan said it was a proud moment to get such appreciation. Extensive search on to locate the youth GANGTOK, June 15: Five college students who went for adventure trekking from Kabi to Paach Pokhari in North Sikkim ended with a missing participant on June 13 on their way back to Kabi. The student trekkers namely Tenzing Chepo (20) of Sichey here studying at a Kolkata based college, Ganesh Darjee (18) of Kabi, Tenzing Tshering Bhutia (21) of Sikkim Government Collage, Tadong, Chung Chung Bhutia of Penlong and another whose identity is still unknown set off from Kabi on June 10 morning. On the first day they reportedly crossed forests and reached Zithang where they halted for the night in tents with the cowherds in the forest. The next day, they reached Paach Pokhari, where they spend the night. On June 12, the set off for return trek and halted at Zithang. In the morning of June 13, the group of five headed back to Kabi.
