Crossite Philately Club opened at Holy Cross School

01.08.22, Singtam : A philately club with the name ‘Crossite’ was officially opened at Holy Cross School, Tadong on July 30, to promote stamp collection among students. Twenty students had enrolled their names on this hobby club. Sr. Florin Mary Murmu and Mukesh Kumar Jha would be the President and Secretary of the club. A philatelic talk, workshop and stamp exhibition were held on the occasion. The event was organised by the Department of Post, Government of India, Sikkim State in association with the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society (SPNS). Samir Pradhan, Marketing Head, Gangtok Post Office presented stamps stationeries to the new stamp collectors. Winners of virtual SIKKIMPEX 2021 announced

02.12.21: The winners of the virtual SIKKIMPEX 2021, the State Level Philatelic Exhibition have been declared. Two days the online exhibition was inaugurated on November 29, 2021, and displayed on www.sikkimpex2021.com. The philatelic exhibition was organized by Sikkim Postal Division, Gangtok under West Bengal Circle. Thirty-seven frames in 21 different philatelic themes were exhibited on the website.   Roshan Prasad’s exhibit of ‘The Story of Cricket’ was declared the first position followed by Sishir Pradhan’s ‘The World of Football’ and Deepen Pradhan’s ‘Indian Pre Independence Stamp’ as second and third position respectfully. Similarly, on the Junior Category, Tanishka Pradhan (Mt. Zion, Singtam), Aryan Pradhan (St. Joshep, Rhenock), and Suyog Shital Pradhan (Mt. Zion, Singtam) stood first, second and third respectively. Red Panda features at SIKKIMPEX 2021 Special Cover

NOVEMBER 29, GANGTOK  : Two days SIKKIMPEX 2021, the State Level Philatelic Exhibition in virtual mode was officially unveiled by   Joseph Lalrinsailova,  PostMaster General, North Bengal and Sikkim Region at Gangtok Post Office Hall. The competitive and non-competitive exhibits would be displayed on  www.sikkimpex2021.com . The philatelic exhibition was organized by Sikkim Postal Division, Gangtok under West Bengal Circle. Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Robin Sewa (SDM, HQ, Gangtok), Sangya Gyatso Bhutia (Director, Himalayan Zoological Park, Gangtok ), Priyadarshinee Shrestha (Team Leader, WWF, Sikkim), Shital Pradhan (Secretary, Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society), Roshan Pradhan and Padam Parajuli (members SPNS). Stamps and Numismatic exhibition held at Duga School

DECEMBER 21, SINGTAM : Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatics Society held an exhibition on - Stamps, Numismatics, Autographs and other hobby-related materials at the Aurora Student Fest 2019 held at Sunrise Academy, Duga, East Sikkim on December 21. Award-winning philatelic exhibits, old Indian bank notes and foreign currencies were displayed. The crowd was excited to see the autographs of Bhaichung Bhutia, Danny Denzongpa, MS Dhoni, Kunti Mokhtan, Bhuwan KC and others. The society was represented by Ganesh Pradhan and Shital Pradhan, President and General Secretary of SPNS and Sishir Pradhan, member of SPNS. The crowds especially the student's guardians thanked SPNS for this innovative exhibition. The students thoroughly enjoyed the displayed items. DARJEELING wins 2 Bronze and a Special School Collection Prize at WEBPEX 2019

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 25: Members of Alpine Philately and Numismatic Society (APNS), Darjeeling - Mrs. Nilema Yonzone, Mr. Anand Yonzone and students of North Point Academy, a school in Singamari, Darjeeling won 2 bronze medals and a Special School Collection Prize at the State Level Philatelic Competition WEBPEX ‘Ekla Chalo Re -2019’. The 6 days exhibition was held at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata from the 16th to the 21st of November 2019. The two Philatelists representing APNS won bronze medals with their thematic Philatelic exhibits titled ‘Woman Empowerment and ‘The Postal System’ under the single frame category. Students of classes 4 and 5 of North Point Academy (NPA), Darjeeling also won Special School Collection Prize for their collective school collection. Sikkim Philatelists grabs 2 Silver and 3 Bronze at WEBPEX- 2019

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 21: Sikkim won two silver and three bronze medals at Ekla Cholo Re 2019, West Bengal State Philatelic exhibition held at Kolkata. The philatelic exhibition was held from November 16-22 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Maidan, Kolkata. Roshan Prasad and Sishir Pradhan won Silver for their exhibits ‘ The story of Cricket’ and ‘The World of Football’ . Ganesh Kumar Pradhan, Sunita Gurung, and Tanishka Pradhan won three bronze medals for their exhibits Philatelic Exhibition of India, Special Cover Issued in Sikkim, and Jawaharlal Nehru. Seven philatelists from Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society had participated at the exhibition where five of them came with medals is a big achievement for Sikkim, told Shital Pradhan, Secretary SPNS in the press release. Darjeeling catches glance of Penny Black; ALPINE 2019 held

SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 21: Darjeeling gathered to have a glimpse of Penny Black, the World’s First Postage Stamp at Hayden Hall as Alpine Philatelic and Numismatic Society, Darjeeling organized ALPINE 2019, a Philatelic and Numismatic Exhibition on the 20 th September. More than 10,000 postal stamps and coins were displayed at the event. This was the second edition of the exhibition that had a huge appreciation last year.  The other highlight of the day was the felicitation of philatelist Shital Pradhan and Passang Sherpa, Mr. Darjeeling 2019 for his endless guidance and support to the ANPS family. Four postcards – three featuring paintings of Darjeeling by Sunny Tamang, a young local budding artist, and one dedicated to the 50 th  Anniversary of the Hayden Hall were released at the event. Roshan Prasad from Sikkim, India wins a silver at “EPAEX 2018” Dubai Stamp Exhibition. The exhibition was organized by “The Emirates Philatelic Association” with co-operation of Dragon Mart that was held from 6 – 10 March 2018 in Dragon Mart 2, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to celebrate “Year of Zayed” and to promote every aspect of philately in the region. It is the 7th Stamp Exhibition hosted in the UAE. Prasad won Silver Medal in Thematic Category of Philately (Stamp Collection). Participants from Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand had participated in this exhibition.  The title of his collection was “The Story of Cricket” that comprised of most of the postal stamps, First Days Covers, Special Covers, Booklets, Miniature Sheets, Post Cards, Telegrams and Commercial envelopes on Cricket, issued worldwide since 1962 (when the first postal stamp was issued Cape Verde on 18th January 1962).
