SINGTAM, FEBRUARY 24 : More than 250 Newars from different parts of Sikkim attended the 1st Sikkim Newar Youth Convention 2019 hosted at Nepali Dharamsala, Singtam on February 24, 2019. The theme of the Convention was “An Insight: Past, Present and Future of Newars of Sikkim. Ten Youth Icons from Sikkim Newar community was felicitated on the occasion. Dentam Sakha and Bowneykutti, Singtam Sakha was declared Best Sakha and Best Upcoming Sakha of Sikkim for the year 2018-2019.  The meet draw attention to sensitize youths towards Newa’s rich culture and tradition. Unity of Sikkim Newars for its further development was the focus of the day. The lecturers presented on the day highlighted to look upon the solution of the problems faced by the Newars of Sikkim. SINGTAM, AUGUST 5: Mohan Pradhan ‘Neeraj’ was elected the President of new executive body of Singtam Newar Kalyan Sangathan at a general meeting held at Nepali Dharmasala, Singtam on August 4. The meeting was attended by more than 200 pradhan communities from Golitar, Manpari Busty, Sirwani, Toppakhani, Sang Khola, Bardang, Sawaney, Shanti Colony, Lal Bazaar, Mandir Line and Shantinagar. SINGTAM, JUNE 24: An Annual General Meeting cum Election of the Executive body of Sikkim Newa Guthi was held at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok yesterday. More than two dozen guthis/organisation from different parts of Sikkim had participated in the meeting. Shri Rohit Kumar Pradhan was elected the new President of Sikkim Newa Guthi. Mohan Pradhan “Neeraj”, General Secretary, Singtam Newar Kalyan Sangathan and Sansthapak Singtam Basibiyalo have extended happiness and congratulation to Shri Rohit Kumar Pradhan on his second term as the President of Sikkim Newa Guthi.
