Pumtong and Tungbuk Special Covers released during the SIKKIMPEX 2026

Two Special Covers was released during the  SIKKIMPEX 2026.  Pumtong Pulit is a traditional bamboo wind instrument of the Lepcha community of Sikkim, deeply rooted in their cultural and religious life. Tungbuk is a three string instrument of the Lepcha community of Sikkim that plays a central role in Lepcha folk music, storytelling, and spiritual practices deeply revered for its rich cultural significance and distinctive acoustic quality.

NOVEMBER 29, GANGTOK  : Two days SIKKIMPEX 2021, the State Level Philatelic Exhibition in virtual mode was officially unveiled by   Joseph Lalrinsailova,  PostMaster General, North Bengal and Sikkim Region at Gangtok Post Office Hall. The competitive and non-competitive exhibits would be displayed on  www.sikkimpex2021.com . The philatelic exhibition was organized by Sikkim Postal Division, Gangtok under West Bengal Circle. Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Robin Sewa (SDM, HQ, Gangtok), Sangya Gyatso Bhutia (Director, Himalayan Zoological Park, Gangtok ), Priyadarshinee Shrestha (Team Leader, WWF, Sikkim), Shital Pradhan (Secretary, Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society), Roshan Pradhan and Padam Parajuli (members SPNS). Sikkim Royal Coronation Throne makes a philatelic debut at SIKKIMPEX 2019

SINGTAM, FEBRUARY 23 : Two days SIKKIMPEX 2019 (Feb 21-22) held at Modern Senior Secondary School ended on a happy note. Two Special Covers were released on the occasion. The event was organized by Sikkim Postal Department.  Special Cover on Pakyong Airport that was the 100 th Operational Airport of India was released on an inaugural day by Ramtanu Shah, Airport Director, Pakyong. Royal Coronation throne of Norbugang, Yuksom was featured on a special cover released on next day by Dr. Anira Phipon Lepcha, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Sikkim University. Both the covers were designed by Singtam based philatelist Roshan Prasad.  The philatelic exhibition was held at Sikkim after ten years. Twenty-one philatelists from different parts of Sikkim, Darjeeling, and Siliguri had participated in the exhibition.
