Nirupa Roy was an Indian actress who had appeared in Hindi films. Often called the "Queen of Misery" in Hindi film circles. Roy was active from 1946 to 1999 and was best known as renowned for playing motherly roles. Roy appeared in over 250 films and won three Filmfare Awards throughout her career, as well as being nominated for one. In 2004, Roy received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. I bought an old Hindi film promotional page from an unknown magazine from OP Biyani, my old-time Kanpur hobby dealer. The black-and-white poster with foreign looks in a Hindi film mentioned was enough to create curiosity for me. The film was named Samundar ki Sindari , produced by J. Arthur Rank , and distributed by Eagle-Lion Distributors (India). The poster mentioned the lead actors and actresses as Jean Simmons (an Academy Award winner) and Donald Houston ( Debonair Pride Discovery ). The film played in packed houses at Regal New Delhi , Jagat & Imperial - Delhi, City Light - Amritsar , and Orient - Dehradun .  Returning to the present, I received that page in my hands. SINGTAM, JULY 14: Nepali Feature film PARCEL is all set to have a special screening at Manan Kendra, Gangtok on July 15, 2018. The movie is based on human trafficking that has been a major issues around the world. Sikkim’s actor/director Praja Pradhan is also be seen in an important cameo role.  The movie is directed by Rabin Shrestha. Prabhu Shrestha and Srijana Fago Limbu are in leading roles. Other actors include Bikram Singh, Sonu Jayanti, Presika Niraula, Pooja Tamang and Kishor Sambahanfe. Felicitation program on social personalities shall also be held at the event. The film is organised by Sikkim Education and Infotech, Ranipool.

This was the last word legendary Rajesh Khanna said to Amitabh Bachchan in his blog.  I was never part of the Rajesh Khanna era, but I have grown up watching his movies on television and reading about him in print media. No doubt his "Anand" is one of my favourite movies. With a simple story, hummable songs, and great acting, Anand was a classic from Hrishi da. Nineteen years ago, a small-budget Nepali film was shot entirely in Sikkim. Celebrated local artist Danny Denzongpa played the lead role. The film also featured popular Nepali artists Bhuwan KC and Tripti, Muralidhar from Nepal, and Rakshya, the child artiste.  The film ‘Saino’ was a huge success, and the music set by Ranjit Gazmer is part of a fairy tale. Each of its seven songs holds a legendary status sung by singers like Asha Bhonsle, Udit Narayan, Deepa Narayan, Kumar Kancha, Muralidhar, and Danny himself.    The film was shot in a short span and directed by Ugen Chopel, who became a famed director of Nepali cinema. Saino was more than a cinematic brilliance with dialogues of character actors getting mass appreciation. Who can forget the lines like “ daiba ko daya lay ….and the Pukar Gurung’s act with his signature line…” koi cha mah sangha khelnay ”. from Sikkim Reporter Gangtok: “Fear Lies Within”, an Art Movie of little over 13 minutes was released by noted journalist Subash Deepak at Press Club of Sikkim on Monday. The movie was shot in Gangtok under the property management of S K Audio Vision. The movie directed by Mr. BP Bajgain, editor Haalkhabar, is unique in the sense that it is without any dialogue, even though it has Mr. Rounak Somani and Ms. Pabitra Bhandari in the cast. The director is also the producer and scriptwriter, and he himself has handled sound and light management. I had never clapped after a movie ended, but Dasvidaniya was different. It was so close to me that i could never take my eyes off the character of Amar Kaul played by Vinay Pathak. I could have never imagined a reel life story could be so close to real life.  I am more like Amar Kaul of the movie except for the slight change of the scene in my character that I am not suffering from stomach cancer nor am I dying within three months, but what a big but! I do not know about tomorrow and who knows I might also have less time to gather off my dreams.
