Pushpaka Vimana of Ravan has always intrigued me since I first saw it on television 32 years ago. It is the chariot that helped Ravan kidnap Sita. As shown in the Ramayan series, the flying chariots most of the kings used had horses, winged horses, swans, and birds pulling them, but Pushpaka Vimana was different. No animal was attached to it. This chariot gave me wings to look for things beyond thought and imagination. In later years, I found stories about Pushpaka Vimana on web pages whose name was mentioned in religious verses. Whether real or imaginary, the vimana still holds a special place in Ramayan. It was in this chariot that Ram and his associate returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravan.

A copy of CIA reports of Sikkim UFO sightings in 1968 UFO sightings in Sikkim are rarely heard or reported but it was after the declassification reports posted online by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) one such report of UFO sightings of 1968 in the Himalayan region caught my interest. The report   mentions the UFO activity of February-March 1968 in India/Nepal/Bhutan/China .  The sightings at Sikkim were recorded at Lachung, Lachen, Thangu, Muguthang and Chholhamu on February 19, 1968. The report reads the directions were North East to South West. The object was giving light from the tail and it was not bright enough to brighten the entire area. The thunder sound was heard at Chholhamu after the sighting of the object. So, this is the first official sighting of UFOs in Sikkim, making it a point that we were visited in the past and we have equal chances that ‘ they ’  might have been visiting us here and there.

UFO stories had always encouraged me to think beyond human limitations. It creates a different world of thoughts. I am happy to share with my readers one such UFO sighting that happened last June 2016 in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. My friend Vikrant Yonzone from Darjeeling catches on camera the movement we consider to be out of this world. Yonzone says "It was the 6th of June 2016 and I had been practising night photography those days. As usual night just past dinner time which is like 10 at my house, went to the rooftop of my residence in Singamari, set up my gear, and started shooting time-lapse shots. After about half an hour or so, I noticed a strange set of lights slowly moving past the sky. Didn't give much attention to it at first as a lot of moving light sightings are common for me since my childhood days, believing them to be some sort of satellites that are commonly visible during the evenings and late at night. You can see the black spot at the tail of the aeroplane I recently had a Delhi tour and clicked many photographs of the places and one thing that wondered me the most was the frequent movement of aeroplanes in and around the sky. I had taken many random shots of the aeroplanes and while checking out every photograph to my surprise in one of the photographs I came across an object hanging in the sky just to the tail of an aeroplane.  I do not know what was that so I tried many things like increasing and decreasing the colour, and the brightness of the photograph and I could faintly see some circular object. Is that UFO? The photograph was clicked on October 7, 2010, from the terrace of a building at Vasant Kunj at around 10 am in the morning. This Photo was shot on the day of Saga Dawa at Gangtok. Some mysterious object is visible near the sun. Can this be Planet Mercury?

Now what is this flying object above the contrails sighted from Singtam I do not know how correct I am but….a comparative studies of the so called contrails photographs from other part of the word with that of those observed in Sikkim in the last two months draws a similar conclusion. It was more of a curiosity that drew my interest into this mysterical phenomenon that had many faces gazing across the sky in inquisitiveness. I too wanted to know, what were those thick lines of clouds that were sighted on certain places of Sikkim in the last two months? I have observed people say, those clouds arranged in a straight line looked like the smokes of some object, stayed on the sky for some time and vanished in air. The thick white smokey lines that were observed on different parts of Sikkim last November again reappeared today. The unidentified smokey lines that passed through the heart of the Singtam bazaar to the other side of the hill were witnessed by large crowds at around 7.37 am this morning.  Shekher Pradhan who took the photographs told that the object did not have any sound and could not be identified whether it was a fighter plane or not. He added the object had its white smokes following a path and it took a little over 5 minutes to cross the Singtam sky. It should be noted that similar smokey lines were reported from the places of  Ravangla, Namthang, Singtam, and even Gangtok last November that was followed by reporting of 5 UFO-like objects at Sombaria.

Yet it remains mystery for those who had come across it and even for those who gossips around it. So are we being watched from sky? The mystery further increased when a student from Sombaria came with the photographs of some unknown spherical object moving around the hills of Sombaria on November 26, 2009. He told “The said object flew bit slowly while they came out from backside of mountain, thanks to god that I was capturing a scene of mountains and the object appeared in my camera aperture. I clicked it; they were five of them moving towards border side of Nepal where they little later disappeared. I never heard any sound nor did I see any white spots behind them”.  All than...

The above photograph had been clicked by Prashant Pandey on the noon of November 23, 2009 from his house terrace at Singtam. Though the cloudy lines left by celestial object can be faintly noticed ( in between the two red lines ), such rare occurrence was never heard in this part of Sikkim. In the last few days some strange show ups at sky had been reported in different parts of Sikkim that includes places from Namthang, Ravangla and the sighting of five UFO like objects at Sombaria on November 26, 2009.

Artistic imagination of the mysterious object Man Bahadhur Tamang, a teacher from Burung Primary School, near Singtam told that he along with his other teaching staff saw a celestial object moving across the opposite hill to the other end of the hill in a great speed. at the noon of 23rd November, 2009. The object came with a big sound that reminded him like some noise of a  blasting of rocks that usually occurs in the nearby repair work of road. The object was a "white thing" that moved in a straight line from the opposite hills of Upper Linzey through the hills of Sang. The total length of the object that was leaving some cloudy smokes from its tail was around 5 km long, said Tamang. The same incident was also reported from Ravangla.
