Just the other day, I was at a place where I had been repeatedly called upon for a visit, and somehow, I could not carry on. I was told I had to have a good walk along the jungle, and although I was interested in visiting the place, it did not happen suddenly. Finally, this December 14, I was to this place, more or less an area that had been pushed aside by the development of today’s Sikkim. It took me more than two hours to reach the place, and I am happy I did it and saw the other side of the world that was part of our Sikkim.  I was there to attend an annual function of Pacha Saraswati Primary School and also become part of a blanket distribution for the families affected by the 18/9 Earthquake. This school at North Regu could be one of the furthest situated government schools in East Sikkim. RONGLI, DECEMBER 16:  A little over two-hour long walk from the nearest motorable newly constructed road through the forest of singing birds is a place where Pacha Saraswati Primary School is situated.   This school at North Regu could be one of the furthest situated government schools in East Sikkim.   The nearest  ration  shops of Rongli bazaar are more than a 3-4 hour downwalk for the villagers of this world, and a labourer payment for a sack of rice is Rs 400.  The Pacha Saraswati Primary School, in the 37th year of its establishment, celebrated its first-ever annual day function with much fanfare and joy on December 14 at its school. The major highlight of the day-long school function was the felicitation of Birtaman Rai, the school's land donor, and Padam Bahadur Rai, the President of the first school committee. RONGLI, NOVEMBER 12:   Government Primary School Pacha Saraswati observed a program for the occasion of National Education Day by giving a unique name this year as “ SIKKSHA KA HAQ ABHIYAN’ . In the program the members of School Managing committee, parents, all the staff and Headmaster were present. Miss Preeya Rai a student of class V gave a short welcome speech. In the program Headmaster Mr. Ashok Gupta read the massage of Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Chief Minister. After the speech all the students, teachers and SMC president, MTA along with Headmaster participated in the Rally related to RTE act with play card and banners. Mr. Dinesh Bhattrai PRT of the school gave speech on awareness on Right to Education. Mr. Mekman Gurung was the Chief Guest of the program. Students of the school participated in the different program like quiz competition, dance, singing etc. At the end of the program prizes and sweets were distributed to the winner students.
