Aadrika Chettri thanks Nutshell Sikkim School Quiz organisers

Aadrika Chettri, Class 8, Mount Zion School, Kidzee Singtam stood 2nd among the 8 Finalists on Nutshell Sikkim School Quiz held online on 4th August 2020. She is the daughter of Arjun Chettri Mijas and Uma Subba. The quiz was held on two rounds – Prelims and the Finals. Ninety-Seven students from different schools of Sikkim had participated in the competition. On the occasion, she has thanked the organizers of the Nutshell Sikkim School Quiz for organizing such a type of quiz competition for the students of Sikkim, especially during this lockdown. We got to learn much-needed educational knowledge through Nutshell, she said.   Aadrika has further thanked her respected Principal, Mt. Zion Kidzee, Singtam, her teachers, and her friends for inspiring her, reads the press release.

Sushma Dahal from Rongli wins Sargam Sikkim

Sushma Dahal with Johny Rai I first wrote about Sushma Dahal in 2009 and i said about her "She is the next big thing to happen in the music industry from Sikkim" in one of my blog post. I have seen her grow as a singer and i am happy to see her success. Sushma Dahal, a student from Chujachen SSS won the singing competition of Sargam Sikkim yesterday at Jorethang.  From a small time school function singer to the winner of  " Pratibha Ko Khoj" some year back i had been associated with Sushma Dahal. To see her reach this stage i am very happy. Without doubt i would like to mention the names of three person Praveen Pradhan, Kushal Pradhan and Buren Gurung from Rongli for believing the talent of Sushma and supporting her in her earlier days. Well once more many many congratulation Sushma.

Culture competition held at 4th State Rally of Sikkim State's Bharat Scouts & Guides

January 18, Singtam : Culture competition was held today on the third day of the 4th State Rally of the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Sikkim State at Khani Khola, Majhitar. Over 75 students from different schools in Sikkim participated in different competitions. Those students also visited the Khani Gaon for a Community Development Project Survey. The slogan writing competition, Gadget and Pioneering Competition was organized on the day. Mr. Abhinay Chhetri, Associate Director of Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, and eminent writer Mr. Raj K. Shrestha was the Chief Observer and the Chief Guest of the competition. Mr. Praveen Pradhan, President, Spark NGO from Singtam, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. A traditional folk song and dance competition was held in an afternoon session. Rebika Rai is Voice of Dalapchand; Dalapchand Secondary School students bid adieu former school mates

  Dalapchand: Despite poor weather conditions Upper Dalapchand SS students gave a colourful culture farewell to their outgoing Class X senior students today at Khel Ground, Dalapchand. Present on the occasion were ST Bhutia, Head Master of Upper Dalapchand SSS and his staffs, Singer Prakash Sundas from Gangtok and villagers from nearby areas. Among the cultural programme, Rebika Rai, student from Class IX went on to win the coveted title of “Voice of Dalapchand”. Ishwar Dawari and Nar Maya Gurung, School Captains hosted the day long function that had more than 20 former school mates of the school making their present felt on the occasion. Singer Prakash Sundas entertained the gatherings with his soulful Hindi and Nepali popular songs. Remanti Rai, Geeta Sharma enters next round of North East Wave Mega Talent Hunt

Remanti Rai and  Geeta Sharma are among the five singers selected from Sikkim for the next Guwahati round of the North East Wave, a mega talent hunt in singing and dancing among the North East States. The other three singers are Sujata Tamang, Rakesh Moktan and Suraj Sharma. Similarly in dance category are Rohan Dahal, Sheetal Rai, Robin Mukhia, Reshma Baraily and Pema Lhamu Pradhan who shall represent Sikkim in the next round. The competitors have left for Assam this evening.  "North East Wave is a mega talent hunt launched by the North Eastern Council. For the first time, a talent hunt of this scale is being conducted in the North East where the participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim will fight it out in a competition showcasing their singing and dancing talent. The winners will get exciting prizes and a chance to be a part of a music album as well as feature in a music video."

Sikkimese boy in final of music competition

from: sikkimreporter Gangtok: Nitish Sharma of Melli Kerabari, South Sikkim, has reached the final round of North Bengal Little Genius, a singing competition being held at Siliguri.   Son of school teachers Mr. KP Sharma and Bhima Sharma, ten years old Nitish is a student of class five and a good singer of Bangla, Hindi, and Nepali songs. The competition which began on January 24 will be concluded on March 20 with a live telecast by the Zee Bangla channel.
