32nd Nepali Bhasa Diwas observed

21.08.23: The 32nd Nepali Bhasa Diwas was celebrated by the Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti with enthusiasm. The event took place at the Sports Hall of Archigos Preparatory Academy in Shantinagar. Shri LN Pradhan, President of Sikkim Government Retired Employees Welfare Association, Singtam Branch, was honored during the event. The day featured poetry recitations, speeches, and cultural dances. Krishna Chettri , President of SGSS, extended khadas to the Chief Guests and other attendees. He delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the significance of the day. Pradhan Neeraj Mohan , a distinguished Nepali literary figure from Singtam and Sikkim, presided over the event. Prominent guests from Singtam and beyond, such as Surya Prasad Kharel, Mahesh Dahal 'Sangam,' Nandu Dutraj 'Nisha,' Kripesh Singh, Anand Chettri i, Lokesh Mukhia, Latika Poudhyal, and Shital Pradhan, recited beautiful Nepali poems. Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrates 73rd Republic Day

26.01.22 : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti joined the rest of India to celebrate the 73rd Republic Day with the release of Samiti's annual magazine 'The Voice' and SGSS Calendar 2022. Rohit Raj Maharaj, Advisor to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, the chief guest of the day unfurled the National Tricolour flag.   The program was limited to the felicitation program and release of Samaj magazine, documentation of activities done by the Samiti since its establishment in 2009, and the new year calendar owing to the Covid pandemic. The Advisor to HCM released both the magazine and the calendar. SGSS Meritorious Scholarship for the session 2022 was awarded to Bisha Rai, daughter of Harka Rai, member of SGSS. She was handed over a cheque of Rs. 6000. The amount was sponsored by LN Pradhan, Advisor, SGSS. 74th Independence Day observed at Shantinagar

SINGTAM, AUGUST 15: Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti observed the 74th Independence Day in its shortest time. The program was limited to hoisting of flag and distribution of congratulation certificates to the students of Shantinagar.  Twenty members of SGGS were present on the occasion and those names were submitted to Singtam Police Station while seeking permission. Proper social distance was maintained during the short program. Menuka Sundas (Coordinator – Women SGSS) was the Chief Guest on the program. She hoisted the national flag, thereafter the national anthem was sung.  Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS spoked in brief about the day and celebration was done with Covid-19 health protocol. Chettri also appealed the house owners at Shantinagar to inform about the Pharma Company working tenants. SGSS celebrates 71st RD; Tarundeep, Jitu and Lil Bdr Chettri congratulated for Padma Awards

SINGTAM, JANUARY 26:   71 st Republic Day was celebrated at Badminton Court, Near Rani Khola Walkway by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. Members of all walk of age attended the two hour long program. Krishna Chettri, President SGSS and with Deo Kumari Pradhan, the senior most member of the Samiti hoisted the flag. In his speech, Chettri spoked of united India and proud India. Shital Pradhan, member SGSS spoked about the importance of the day. Tarundeep Rai, Jitu Rai and Nil Bahadur were congratulated for receiving the Padma Shri, fourth highest civilian award of India. Sishir Pradhan was the host of the day. Sweets were distributed on the occasion.

Samaj Deusi Celebrated by SGSS

October 31, SINGTAM:   Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti collectively played Deusi to conserve and preserve the rich old tradition of hindu culture. More than thirty members met at the premises of Mohan Sunar, former President of SGSS’s residence. He was also the Gharpatti of the day. Dew Kumari Pradhan, senior most members of SGSS was the chairperson of the day.  Other distinguished persons present on the day included LN Pradhan, T B Pradhan, LP Chettri, KN Dulal, KB Sundas, Shankhar Lamichanay, Anita Sewa, BB Tamang, NK. Sundas, Achen Lepcha and others executive body and members. Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS gave a brief speech about the Deusi program. He also gave information about the materials added towards the samaj through the collection of last year's Deusi program. Those singers involved at the Deusi singing included Mohan Sunar, Gopal Subba, Ayushman Chettri, Sonam Tamang, Anita Sewa.

Shantinagar and Tinek celebrates 150th Gandhi Jayanti

SHANTINAGAR : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated the 150th Gandhi Jayanti by conducting cleanliness drive near Badminton court along Ranikhola walkway and National Highway 10 at Shantinagar, Singtam. Chief Advisor, L. N. Pradhan lighted the lamp and addressed the gathered crowd about importance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness around our surroundings. Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS thanked everyone for coming and being part of the drive and appealed everyone to keep our place clean and green. Presents on the day were advisors T. B. Pradhan, L. P. Chettri, Shankhar Lamichanay, K. B. Sundas, Mohan Sunar, Nisu Dulal, Senior Citizen Dew Kumari Pradhan along with executive body and other members of SGSS.
