MG Marg on sketch

This picture sends me an important message. We all praise the beautification of MG Marg of Gangtok but looking out at this sketch, I did not see any new changes; we repeated what it was before. As it is said, the earth is round, and we tend to find that the start is the same as the end.

MG Marg and 3 Idiots

I had a camera with me yesterday throughout the day out at Gangtok but the only pic i clicked was of the MG Marg and the poster of  3 Idiots.

Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Gangtok) over the years......

My last post was a bit easy and a bit nostalgic. When I was in Gangtok as a TNSS student and as a Sikkim Government College student, I had many memories at this Mahatma Gandhi Marg. This first marketplace of Sikkim has had a major turnover over the years. So when i started collecting old photographs about this market place i am sure many of you to would see your bygone days pass by with the flip of each photographs. The place shown in both pictures is MG Marg at the heart of Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.

SIKKIM EXPRESS NEWS GANGTOK, May 30: Finally, MG Marg gets the much-needed face lift. After years of neglect and little attention by the concerned authorities, this commercial hub of the Capital is currently under extensive repairs and alterations. The State Government has drawn up impressive plans to spruce up Gangtok’s main thoroughfare, keeping up with the vision of the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling to convert the State into another Singapore. To begin with, the MG Marg is being widened to make more space for parking. Accordingly, the green divider running across the length of the Marg is being cut to size to make the roads on its both sides wider. The existing 7 metre width of the divider will now be reduced to just 1 ½ metre obviously to accommodate more vehicles. The first phase of the project has begun from the Tourism Information Centre upto Star Hall point. The total area covered will be 10,000 square meter and the fund allocated for the first phase is Rs 53 ...
