GANGTOK, APRIL 30:   Jemimah Rodrigues, an India Cricketer and member of Senior Women’s Team of India hosts a webinar organised by Sikkim Cricket Association for Women’s team of Sikkim. She has played 16 one day internationals and 43 Twenty20 Internationals for India and is one of the regular members of Indian Women’s team. During her one-hour webinar she shared her experience with our players and said that “dreams do come true”, all we need to do is work hard to make a dream come reality. All the players attending the webinar felt honoured, motivated and thanked SICA for conducting such programs for women players.

The Senior Men’s Team of Sikkim is currently playing Vijay Hazare Trophy at Chennai and in their third match today at IC- Gurunanak College Ground; they trashed Manipur by 8 wickets and registered their first win in the tournament. Manipur won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings, they were all-out for 162 runs in 40.1 overs. Anureet Singh and Md Saptula took 3 wickets each, Anwesh Karan Sharma took 2 wickets and Varun Sood took 1 wicket. Md Saptula built the pressure on the opponent from the beginning by breaking the opening partnership and sending both the opening pairs back to the pavilion. In the second innings, Sikkim had a good start. Ashish Thapa scored 43 runs, Robin Bist 85 not-out, Nilesh Lamichaney 14 runs and Varun Sood remained not-out at 5 runs. A Valentine's Day Special "Exhibition Match" was played between President XI and Secretary XI of Sikkim Cricket Association at SICA Ground, Rangpo today. President XI won the toss and choose to bat first. In the first innings, they scored 190 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in 25 overs. Prakash Lama scored 15 runs, Biwash Lamichaney 72, SICA President Lobzang G. Despite better bowling against mighty Australians , India gave up the first match with a mere 36 runs all out in their second inning . This news is a talk of the media today. For me, a team dropping five catches in a match was equally embracing. This historic 36 runs of a team reminded me of another match during the early 90s at Sikkim . The tournament - Thirani Cup , the venue – Paljor Stadium and it was a match between Development Area, Gangtok against Singtam .   The match was 50 over , Development Area scored 194 runs with one of the opening batsmen reaching a century. The centurion batsman was dropped when he had not reached the double-figure. The bowlers gave a tough challenge. When the Singtam batsman came to bat, they never had expected the outcome.   30.10.20, Gangtok: Palzor Tamang, Captain of Black Eagle (SAP) scored 103 not out from 75 balls against Royal North Brothers at the ongoing Sikkim's First Two-Tier Club Tournament. In the gem of the inning, he hit 12 fours and four sixes.   He became the first batsman to hit a century at the Knock Out Round of the ongoing Sikkim's First Two-Tier Club Tournament. In the gem of the inning he hit 12 fours and four sixes. Black Eagle (SAP) successfully chased the target of 171 runs in 28.1 overs with the loss of seven wickets. PRESS RELEASE Sikkim wins their first ever Ranji Trophy Match against Manipur in Kolkata today by an innings and 27 runs. The match was played in JU Second Campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Sikkim with 8 other teams is playing their first Ranji Trophy in a Plate Division. It was Milind Kumar’s 261 runs that helped Sikkim reach 372 in the first innings and brilliant bowling by Sikkim bowlers restricted the opponent on 79 runs, in which Ishwar Chaudhary took 4 wickets, Bipul Sharma 3 wickets, Lee Yong Lepcha 2 wickets and Palzor Tamang 1 wicket.
