The event witnessed an enchanting Ramayan path, captivating poetry recitations, and folk dances. Namchi, Sikkim - June 14, 2023 - Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) was honoured with a memento and certificate from the World Book of Records, London, and an International Life Saver Certificate from the National Integrated Forum of Artists & Activists (NIFAA), a national-level organization based in Karnal, Haryana. The esteemed accolades were presented to Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, at the Samvedna Certificate Distribution ceremony held at Officer's Club, Namchi.  The event, organized by NIFAA Sikkim State, celebrated the successful completion of the Largest One Day Blood Donation Campaign, acknowledged by World Book of Records, London that took place on March 23, 2021, in multiple locations across India, including Sikkim. Zion, Kid Zee Singtam, was congratulated by the Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) for his participation at the 2nd KP Guha Roy Memorial Chess Tournament in Jalpaiguri. He participated at the Under 10 category and Open category. SGSS members, led by Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, visited Suyog's residence to offer their congratulations and present him with khadas, expressing their best wishes for his future endeavors. Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti Celebrates World Environment Day with Tree Plantation Drive

Singtam, June 5, 2023 – Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) enthusiastically joined hands with the global community to observe World Environment Day. The day was marked by a significant tree plantation drive, with over 200 saplings being planted along the scenic Rani Khola Walkway in Shantinagar, Singtam. The program was graced by the presence of Shri Sanjeev Chettri, Range Officer from the Singtam Forest Department, who served as the Chief Guest. Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, presented a traditional khada to the chief guest, while also highlighting the various activities undertaken by the organization as part of its green mission. During his speech, the Range Officer praised the commendable efforts of SGSS and expressed his assurance of full support from the Singtam Forest Department. He acknowledged the significance of such initiatives in preserving and nurturing the environment for future generations.

Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti Welcomes New Khamdong Block Development Officer, Shri Sawan R Dhakal

Shantinagar, June 1, 2023 - The members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) warmly welcomed the newly transferred Khamdong Block Development Officer, Shri Sawan R Dhakal, in a short meeting held at the residence of Shri LN Pradhan in Shantinagar. The meeting, organized by Shri Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, was attended by Smt. Deepa Chettri, Ward Panchayat, senior advisors,and other members of the organization. Members of SGSS offered khadas to the new BDO. During the meeting, the Block Development Officer congratulated and presented khadas to two SGSS members. Smt. Tara Pradhan, a retired teacher, was felicitated by the Sikkim Teacher's Association, while Shri Shital Pradhan was promoted to the position of Head Master PS. Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti holds meeting with local shopkeepers to ensure compliance with licensing regulations

Shantinagar, May 7, 2023 - Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) held a meeting with local shopkeepers in the area to discuss issues related to licensing compliance. The meeting was chaired by Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, and was attended by Panchayat Sumita Pradhan of Panchayat Ward No. 4, Deepa Chhetri of Panchayat Ward No. 5, and the shopkeepers of the area. During the meeting, it was communicated that those shopkeepers who were unable to attend today's meeting should be informed about the minutes and decisions made. The meeting began with a two-minute silence to pay tribute to 25-year-old Shaheed Siddhant Chhetri, a Darjeeling resident serving in the Indian Army, who recently lost his life. Ranikhola Walkway Extension Survey Completed in Singtam

Singtam, Sikkim, May 4, 2023 — Today marked a significant milestone for the residents of Singtam and the surrounding areas as the survey for the extension of the Ranikhola Walkway was successfully completed. The 1.6-kilometer extension will connect the Sumin Lingzey Bridge, near Singtam Fruit Preservatory Factory to the new hospital site near Toppakhani, providing improved access to essential services and creating a more connected community. Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) and Urban Development Department (UDD) officials collaborated in conducting the survey, with invaluable assistance from SGSS President Krishna Chettri. Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti Organizes Prayer Service in Memory of Pangthang Victim of Heinous Crime

Shantinagar, Sikkim - On April 22, 2023, the Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti organized a prayer service in honour of a young school-going girl who was a victim of a heinous crime that shook the entire state of Sikkim.  The gathering included distinguished guests such as Shri LN Pradhan, President of the Sikkim Government Retired Employee Welfare Association, Singtam Branch, Shri Mohan Pradhan Neeraj, Sansthapak, Singtam Basibiyalo, and Shri Bijay Pradhan. Members of several local organizations including Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti, Golitar Samaj, Anmol Samaj, Dhamala Colony, Shanti Sewa Samaj, Juice Factory, and Tinek Samaj were also present. Singtam, April 14th, 2023 – The Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) organized a two-phase program on April 14th, 2023, to commemorate the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution. The program was held at the Badminton Court in Shantinagar, Singtam and the Rangpo Tourism Office. In the morning session, Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated at the Badminton Court, Shantinagar attended by Deepa Chettri, Panchayat Shantinagar Ward, and members of the SGSS. 27.01.2023, Singtam : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated the 74th Republic Day at Badminton Court, Shantinagar, Singtam. Mrs Keemti Rai, Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, Rangpo, the Chief Guest of the day unfurled the tricolour flag. This event also saw a first as a photo frame of Bharat Mata was offered flowers after the national anthem by all the guests. August 15, Singtam: Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated 76th Independence Day with joy and enthusiasm. The felicitation program, veteran doubles badminton exhibition match, culture and sports activities were the highlight of the day. Shyam Pradhan, AD, Food and Civil Supply Department, Singtam was the chief guest of the day. Head Lobella, Karma Thujee Monastery, Shantinagar, Singtam was the guest of honour. Sikkim's Top Model Miss Teen 2022 Safalta Biswakarma congratulated

24.02.22: Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti welcomed and congratulated Safalta  Biswakarma, winner of Sikkim's Top Model Miss Teen 2022 Season 2 at Shantinagar.  In a small program, she was offered khadas and a flower bouquet. Speaking on the occasion Krishna Chettri, President SGSS congratulated the family of the title winner. Chettri told the Samiti is blessed to have such talent. The mother and grandmother of Safalta were also offered khadas and thanked for supporting their daughter's wishes.

SGSS celebrated 152nd Gandhi Jayanti

  October 2, Singtam : Members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti observed the 153nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the badminton court. Highlight of the day was offering of khada to the frame of Gandhi ji, cleanliness drive around the badminton court, walkway and at Gandhiji's painting near the National Highway at Shantinagar. On the occasion, a badminton set and a packet of shuttlecock was also presented to the players. Shital Pradhan, Publicity Incharge, SGSS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Doubles badminton team of Krishna Chettri and Gurmeet Singh from SGSS defeated Nandu Dutraj and DB Pradhan from Burdang in a Men's Doubles Veteran Badminton Exhibition Match on the occasion of 75th Independence Day held at Badminton Court, Shantinagar. The program started with a hoisting of national tri-colour flag by PK Pradhan, Chief Guest of the day. Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS gave a welcome speech. Social worker Krishna Chettri helped a patient from Nepal reach home

09.08.21 : Showing up a good gesture, a humanitarian team led by Krishna Chettri, President Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti cum Singtam Coordinator - Service to Mankind helped Ghanashyam Chettri, admitted at District Hospital Singtam reach his home at Pani Tanki, Nepal. The team from Singtam handed over the patient to his family members. Chettri had consulted with the concerned doctors - Dr. Dwarika Niroula and Dr. Manoj Mishra of the Singtam Hospital. A proper discharge papers was made according to the covid health protocols. The ambulance in which the patient was sent had proper oxygen facilities and was provided by Singtam Driver Association. Suraj Subba was the driver of the ambulance. The initiative taken by Krishna Chettri was highly appreciated and the family members of Ghanashyam Chettri have thanked him and his team for this noble work.

Service to Mankind provides Sai Protein, Kwati and Ayush tablets at covid pandemic time

Service to Mankind is one such organisation that's really doing wonder at this pandemic time in our state. Its members are visiting the Covid patients, elderly people and sick people; providing them with Sai Protein, Kwati and Ayush tablets. Recently they were felicitated by the Governor of Sikkim for their generous work. Thanks to Bikash Pradhan and Sujeet Joshi who had initiated the thought and today this is a state level organisation. Here at Singtam, my home town we have Krishna Chettri , our own President of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti who had been given the additional responsibility of Singtam Coordinator - Service to Mankind. He is doing the service to the society within his own personal efforts. Many many warm congratulations to people like him and other members of Service to Mankind, if we have a desire nothing is impossible.

Amisha Bishwakarma sings a telugu song at 207th Bhanu Jayanti

Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti observed the 207th Bhanu Jayanti celebration in a half-hour program. The program was made short owing to covid safety protocol. The highlight of the program was a Ramayan Path, poetry, and some musical presentation. Lopen Karma Tshering, Head Lama, Karma Thujee Monastary, Shantinagar was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Other distinguished guests included Sarat Lama, Advisor SGSS, Deo Kumari Pradhan, seniormost member of the Samiti, BB Tamang, RK Pradhan, Anu Hangma Subba, and others.   The program started with the observation of a two-minute silence for the two departed members of the Samiti; thereafter khadas were offered to the guests. Indian Cormorant rescued from Shantinagar Rani Khola

Singtam, February 17 : Arpan Pradhan, amateur biodiversity photographer from Shantinagar, Singtam rescued an Indian Cormorant from the fishing net thrown at the Rani Khola near Badminton Court, Shantinagar. He was returning home from the market; at the river Rani Khola, he saw two Indian Cormorants locally called Pani Haas taking a dip in the water. . Indian Cormorant is a winter bird that visits River Teesta at Singtam every year for fresh fish.  He took his mobile camera and started to film the interesting water moment of the birds, he found that one of the birds flew off as soon as he got close to them from the walkway. The other bird was floating on the water sometimes getting inside the water. Arpan Pradhan thought it to be the bird’s play until he found that the poor bird was trapped in a thrown-away fishing net. Since the bird was on the opposite side of the river, he saw a man walking on that side. He asked him to help the bird. The man reached the bird but was unable ...
