SDF President Pawan Chamling releases filmmaker Praja Pradhan’s short films

SINGTAM, APRIL 04:   Pawan Chamling , President of Sikkim Democratic Front, officially launched seven short films on  politics  at the Rorathang public meet.  Four of the short films were directed by  Praja Pradhan , a Sang Nazitam-based filmmaker, while the other three ,  titled Sikkim Darpan, were directed by  Uttam Pradhan, a  famed actor from Sikkim. Speaking on the occasion, Praja Pradhan said he is lucky to be part of a successful SDF party, and each of the short films is based on supporting the party that is for the people of Sikkim and for the people of Sikkim. Artists of the shirt films included Dilip Raimajhi, Uttam Pradhan, Praja Pradhan, Ram Sharma and others. The films were shot in different locales of Sikkim, added Pradhan.

G.M. Gurung of Rangpo, East Sikkim, was felicitated by the hand of the Hon'ble Chairman of Sikkim Film Board, Shri Uttam Pradhan, on the eve of the 71st Independence Day Ceremony held at Sakyong Chisopani School ground for his utmost contribution to the village since many years. The felicitation was constituted by Boudha Sangha Samaj, Chisopani. Along with him, two others were also felicitated.

Second day of Singtam 202nd Bhanu Jayanti Celebration concludes

SINGTAM, JULY 11: The second day of the Singtam 202 nd Bhanu Jayanti Celebration showcased the cultural talent of the participants in and around Singtam. Inter School and Open Nepali folk dance competition was held on July 10 at Community Hall, Singtam. Garjaman Gurung, Minister of Roads & Bridges Department, Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department, was the day's Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Shyam Pradhan, Parliamentary Secretary – HRDD, Uttam Pradhan, Chairman Sikkim Film Board, Sawan Pradhan, President Singtam Nagar Panchayat and his Councillors and others. Mohan Pradhan Neeraj, General Secretary of the Singtam Bhanu Jayanti Committee, was the host of the day, while TB Pradhan, Vice President of Singtam Bhanu Jayanti, gave the welcome speech. Singtam 202nd Bhanu Jayanti Celebration starts

SINGTAM, JULY 09:  The 202nd Bhanu Jayanti Celebration kicks off at Singtam with Inter-School and Open Competitions for Ramayan Path and Nepali Poetry held at Community Hall, Singtam, on July 9. Similarly, the Nepali folk dance competitions will be completed the next day, July 10. The top three winners of the Ramayan Path, Poetry, and Nepali Folk Dance Competition will perform at the July 13 th Bhanu Jayanti celebration to be held at Singtam Bazaar. Sonam Dadul Bhutia, MLA of Tashiding Constituency, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Other distinguished guests present on occasion included Bimal Lamichaney, President Sirwani Chisopani GPU, Sawan Pradhan, President Singtam Nagar Panchayat, his Councillors, and others. Promo of “Newa’ released

SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 6:  NEWA, a documentary based on the Newar Language and Culture produced by Badhaichha Creation, Singtam, was officially released at the Production House Office at Singtam.  Mohan Pradhan ‘Neeraj,’ Sansthapak and Singtam Basibiyalo clicked the video file that was uploaded to YouTube.  Present on the occasion were Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director, Badhaichha Creation, and his members, including Bikash Pradhan, Shital Pradhan, Pramod Pradhan, Pranay Pradhan, and others.  NEWA documentary will be released at the Indra Jatra celebration on September 8th at Golitar, Singtam. The documentary features Uttam Pradhan, a famed actor in Nepali cinema, along with Newari dance performers from Dentam Sakha Guthi. Badhaichha Creation brings “NEWA” on Indra Jatra

SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 4: Badhaichha Creation, Singtam, has created a documentary aptly named “NEWA” based on Newar Language and Culture. The documentary will be officially released on the auspicious occasion of Indra Jatra at Singtam. Indra Jatra, the biggest festival of the Newar community, is being held for the first time outside Gangtok. The event was held under Sikkim Newar Guthi and organized by the Indra Jatra Celebration Committee 2014. Praveen Pradhan, managing director of Badhaichha Creation, Singtam, said in a press release, "We have considered this project, keeping in mind that we need to conserve our culture and traditions. We feel proud to say that Sikkim is the only region in the world where the Newar language is recognized as an official state language, and for that, we shall always remain grateful to the Chief Minister of Sikkim." SINGTAM, AUGUST 5: Praveen Pradhan (Managing Director), Bikash Pradhan and Shital Pradhan of Badhaichha Creation, Singtam along with Biren Lama of White Horse Production, Gangtok visited the residence of Uttam Pradhan on the evening of August 4 and congratulated him for becoming the Chairman of Sikkim Music, Drama, Dance, and Film Board.  He was offered Khadas by both the members of the Production House. Pradhan, in return, thanked everyone and assured them to work with better creativity in days to come.

Samten Bhutia comes with a nepali film "Letter"

With the promo and the posters of the latest Nepali film "Letter", I am sure the filmmaking in Sikkim is going to have a major change in approach. This Nepali film about the mental disease called "split personality"  with a flavor of suspense and mystery is all about to be released.  Uttam Pradhan and Bishal Chamling is the lead actor while Annie Zimba will be making her film debut. The film is directed by Samten Bhutia who also has penned the story and its screenplay. It is to be noted that Samten Bhutia had earlier acted in the short English film Myth, made in Sikkim.

Singtam completes 27th round of Basibiyalo

SINGTAM:  The monthly literary forum  Basibiyalo,  which has been a huge success among the crowds in and around Singtam, completed its 27th monthly meeting today at East Point SSS.  The highlight of the day was Miss Pooja Sharma's felicitation from Rangpo in the presence of noted Nepali cine actor Uttam Pradhan and Bishal Chamling.   The other guests present on the occasion were  Maha Kavi  Chakrapani Bhattarai, SK Pakhrin, a noted folk song singer from Sikkim and Pradip Subba, President of Singtam Motor Vehicle Association.  Also present on the occasion were members of Spark NGO represented by Praveen Pradhan, President, Nangshel Sherpa, Vice President and Rajni Pradhan, the General Secretary. Nachyo Babari thrills young Burung students

SINGtAM:  They came, they saw, but they did not conqueror, and yet they were winners of their own rights.   The first round exit from the audition of the Nachyo Babari held at SDF Bhawan in Gangtok on September 13 did not deter the minds of students of Burung Primary School near Singtam.  The mere opportunity to perform at the stage of the state-level competition was more than a lifelong experience for them.  Burung Primary School, in its twenty-fourth year of establishment, broke their jinx when it sent its five students and its choreographer to participate in the dance competition. All girls’ group dance participants included students of age groups fourteen and fifteen. All the students were visiting Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, for the very first time.
