GANGTOK, June 30: Solomon Lepcha, the Chief Coach (Football) of the State Sports & Youth Affairs Department, passed away today. The 55-year-old breathed his last at around 8:30 pm at the Central Referral Hospital, 5th Mile, Tadong, after a prolonged illness. Late Lepcha, who was known to be a renowned footballer, was serving as the State Chief Coach for the last three years. He was currently coaching the students of Sports Hostel and the State Women's Football team. “We are in great sorrow on Solomon Lepcha’s untimely demise. He was the best footballer that Sikkim has ever produced. He has also contributed a lot to Sikkim Football. Girls will miss him a lot as he was the supporting pillar for women's football.
