East Point Senior Secondary School, Golitar, celebrated World Environment Day with a series of activities to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. The celebration began with a skit during the morning assembly, intertwined with a song by Class XI students, emphasizing the importance of ecological conservation and individual responsibility. Following the skit, students participated in a "Best Out of Waste" project, showcasing their creativity by making useful items from waste materials. Awards were presented to students from junior, sub-junior, and senior categories by the respected Head Ma'am. A plantation activity was also organized, where students and staff planted saplings around the school premises. The day concluded with a cleanliness drive, where students and teachers cleaned the school grounds and surrounding areas.

Singtam, June 5, 2023 – Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti (SGSS) enthusiastically joined hands with the global community to observe World Environment Day. The day was marked by a significant tree plantation drive, with over 200 saplings being planted along the scenic Rani Khola Walkway in Shantinagar, Singtam. The program was graced by the presence of Shri Sanjeev Chettri, Range Officer from the Singtam Forest Department, who served as the Chief Guest. Krishna Chettri, President of SGSS, presented a traditional khada to the chief guest, while also highlighting the various activities undertaken by the organization as part of its green mission. During his speech, the Range Officer praised the commendable efforts of SGSS and expressed his assurance of full support from the Singtam Forest Department. He acknowledged the significance of such initiatives in preserving and nurturing the environment for future generations.

  06.06.22: Sakyong Chisopani JHS observed World Environment Day with the plantation drive of 145 different flowering and non-flowering saplings around the school premises. There were also fruit saplings. PB Subba, Headmaster of the school in his address informed the students of the postponed plantation festival due to yesterday’s holiday. He spoke about the importance of plants in our daily lives. Chodenla Tamang, School Captain also spoke about the need to preserve and conserve the plants for the next generation.

Singtam, June 5 :   Dr. MK Sharma, Health Minister and Area MLA gave his short visit to Shantinagar, Singtam to attend the World Environment day organised by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. Also present on the occasion were Tekendra Sharma, BDO, Khamdong BAC, M Narayan Sharma, RO, Singtam Forest Office and members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. Singtam, 05/6/2018 : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti conducted a plantation drive at Ranikhola walkway in Shantinagar on the occasion of World Environment Day 2018. Rekape Primary School observed World Environment Day 2018 in its own small scale way.To mark the occasion the school installed waste baskets totally made up of bamboo products around the school campus. The baskets which are organic in nature was donated by a good Samaritan from Mumbai, Sudipta mukherjee Mandal , on behalf of her mother in law , who was very impressed by the effort of the school children and teachers towards cleanliness awareness and practices .  Mrs. Mandal is a facilitator on behalf of Temi Tea, for CHALAMTHANG. Titribotey Pr.School observed World Environment Day 2018 with the theme Beat plastic pollution on 5th June at the school premises showing the full support for environment with much enthusiasm. The students also took active participation in cleaning the school surrounding. The headmaster of the school highlighted the importance of the day and aware the students about the negative effects on the use of plastics.

Singtam, June 5: A four-member team of Butterflies and Moths of Sikkim (BAMOS) Nature Conserving Society visited Sakyong Chisoapani JHS to celebrate World Environment Day today. The program was conducted in collaboration with Butterflies and Moth of Sikkim Nature Conservation Foundation (BAMOS NCF) with support from the Rufford Foundation. Plantation of different saplings and workshop on butterfly conservation was the highlight of the day.  A day long program started with the welcome speech of Shital Pradhan, Green Teacher, SC JHS Eco Club. Sakyong Chisopani JHS held a painting competition on the occasion of the World Environment Day celebration where the top three selected winners were awarded gifts as encouragement. More than a hundred saplings were planted around the school premises. Saplings included flowering and non-flowering plants, fruits, and others. SINGTAM, June 5, 2013:  A plantation drive was organized at Sakyong Chisopani JHS on the occasion of World Environment Day. About 90 saplings of different plant species were planted around the school premises. Present on the occasion were school staff, students, and a few SMC members. SK Gurung, Social Worker was the chief guest on the occasion while PB Tamang, a senior citizen was the special guest. Different plant species both ornamental and medicinal included Parijat, Silver Oak, Neem, Gul Mohur, Bougainvillea, Bottle Brush, Harra, Kasia,  and others were planted by the teachers, students, and SMC members.  On the occasion, two Barr trees ( Ficus benghalensis ) in front of the school were declared “School Heritage Trees”. Speaking on this reporter Arjun Chettri, Senior Teacher of the school said the two Barr trees near the school building had been an identity of the school since long time and it was decided by the school staff to honour it with a heritage status....

Dalapchand : World Environment Day was observed at Dalapchand Secondary School with a cleanliness drive and plantation of saplings along the school premises. Present on the occasion was ST Bhutia, Head Master of the school and the staffs. Different types of sapling that included pani saaz, pine, uttis, chilauney and flowering plants were planted on the day. More than hundred students carrying placards with quotes about saving environment also had a short procession. Speaking on the occasion, Sonam Bhutia, Graduate Teacher told about the importance of conservation of the plants in order to have a better environment. NIRMAL MANGAR ARITAR, June 05: The State level World Environment Day was observed today here at the Chungthang Gaddi in East Sikkim with a massive plantation drive by the students and the local people. Organized by the State Forest, Environment and Wildlife Department in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the programme was attended by the Area MLA KB Chamling as the chief guest along with the presence of the Zilla Adakshya (East) Bimal Diwedi, officials from the concerned department and WWF.
