Sikkim's Tshering Lhmu Sherpa wins Mrs Bharat Worldwide 2019

Age was never a problem for 32 year old Mrs. Tshering Lhmu Sherpa from Development Area, Gangtok when she thought of participating at the pageant competition organized by Dr. Aman Gandhi Film Production held at Hotel Metro Views, Karol Bagh, Delhi . As promised to her daughter, Ismita Rai she went on to win the competition and bagged two titles of Mrs Bharat Worldwide 2019 and Mrs Himalaya 2019.   Born to Norzang Sherpa and is Yanzee Sherpa, Tshering Lhmu Sherpa is a businesswoman and her interest lies in making pickles. Mingma Sherpa and Om Prakash Sewa wins Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer trophy

SINGTAM, JULY 20: The grand finale of “Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer 2012-13”, Search for the Sikkim’s best solo dancer for the Junior and Senior categories concluded at Singtam Community Hall on July 18. Mingma Sherpa from Namchi won the title of “Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer” for the Senior Category, while Om Prakash Sewa from Changey, Pakyong was adjudged the winner of the Junior Category. A group dance performance from Step Dance Sensation Academy, Namchi, dedicated to the Uttrakhand nature tragedy, was the major highlight of the day and was highly appreciated by the gathered audience.    Prashant Pradhan and Gyaltsen Bhutia, both from Gangtok, were awarded 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Second Runner-Up in the Senior Category. Sikkim’s Geetanjali Thapa wins Best Performance award at Los Angeles Film Festival

Sikkim-born Geetanjali Thapa has won the Best Performance in the Narrative Competition for her role in Kamal K.M’s  I.D at the recently concluded Los Angeles Film Festival. I.D. was screened in the Los Angeles Film Festival in the section of the International Competition held on June 13-17. Geetanjali Thapa is the first Bollywood lead actress from the small state of Sikkim, and her success story will surely inspire the new generation to dream big. Geetanjali Thapa , who plays “Charu” in I.D. ,  earli er won the Award for Best Actress at Imagineindia International Film Festival, Madrid. The much-acclaimed film I.D. has  won seven awards at film festivals across different countries and is making news. My flag widget for my blog shows 112,244 page views and 173 fags collected in one year

I am loving this !,  Last January 21, 2012, I had installed a flag widget for my blog " PROUD TO BE A SIKKIMESE" and today after a year my flag widget shows 112,244 page views and 173 fags collected. It gives me pleasure and enjoyment that my work is being appreciated. When I started this blog some 6 years back I was told by my friend to write about Darjeeling or Human Rights, they told me no one shall read about 'Sikkim'. I believed in my instinct and the result I see is awesome.  Thank you, my dear friends knowing-unknowing we have shared half a decade and I would surely be happy if I get to know each one personally. Let this love and warmth remain with me in near future too. 

44th Basibyalo felicitates Shital Pradhan

From Sikkim Mail Singtam 27 May: The Singtam Basibyalo today felicitated the teacher Shital Pradhan on its 44th episode that was held at Singtam. Mr. Pradhan was felicitated for his contribution in the field of Philately and also to bring accolades to Sikkim in the map of the national and international forefront through his popular blog Proud to be Sikkimese. The chief guest of the day veteran singer and music director Madhu Sudan Lama did the honour. The Basibyalo which is organized in every last Sunday had zilla panchayat, Namfing-Tsalamthang DR Khatiwara, Yugantar Pariwar, president Kalchini Dooars Ram Kumar Lama,  Suresh K Lama as the special guests. Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer prepares for an exciting semi finals

SINGTAM , MAY 7: The exciting semi finals of the junior and senior category of Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer , Search for the best solo dancer of Sikkim is set to happen at Singtam on May 12 and 13 respectively. Around 41 participants from different corner of state are performing their best for the coveted title of ‘Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer’. The event is organized by Badhaichha Creation , Singtam in association with Singtam Basibiyalo and ‘ Proud To Be A Sikkimese ’ Blog. The Media Partners for the events are Sikkim Express , Samay Dainik , Nayuma Television , Voice of Sikkim and 91.9 FM, Gangtok . Badhaichha Creation completes “Sikkim’s No. 1 Dancer” auditions

SINGTAM , APRIL 17 : Sikkim ’s No. 1 Dancer, Search for the Sikkim’s best solo dancer started with a grand anticipation with 168 participants from different parts of the state making their presence felt. The two days audition round for Junior and Senior Category was completed on April 14 and April 15 at Nepali Dharamsala, Singtam . The inaugural day of the competition had Junior Audition Round that had 74 participants while the next day for the Senior Audition Round there were 95 aspiring participants dancing for the coveted title. A total of 41 participants from each category were selected by the three judges for the next round. The three judges of Sikkim’s No. 1 Dancer were Sushma Chetrri from Namchi , Hemanta Das from Assam and Bijay Tamang from Nepal . Remanti Rai , winner of North East Ke Superstar Singing Competition was the host of the event along with Chandra Bahadur Subba .
