SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 12:  Government Primary School, Sawaney, West Pandam, observed National Education Day on November 11, 2011, at its school premises. Cultural activities and rallies were the highlight of the occasion. Mohan Pradhan, Headmaster of Sawaney PS, gave the welcome speech, which was followed by a Prime Minister message read b y himself and the message from the Chief Minister read by Ganesh Pradhan, teacher, while BR Subba read out the message of Kapil Sibbal, Union HRDD Minister. Sunita Rai, Zilla Panchayat, West Pandam, was the Chief Guest of the day, which also included other distinguished guests: Dilp Rai, Buddhiman Rai, Deepak Rai, Mrs Kumari Rai, Mrs Ganga Devi Sunar, Indira Kumari Pradhan, CB Chettri, Mrs Nandu Sharma, and others. Padam Gautam, a teacher, gave a brief speech on RTE and CCE, while Dilip Rai, Harka Subba, and the Chief Guest also spoke on the occasion.

Discovering Sikkim that has its own rich heritage, culture, its legend and many mystical phenomenons had always been my passion and to learn that was something unknown to most people makes me a happy man. Recreating myth : Guru Nanak in Sikkim ? Posted by apu under Sikkim & North East , My travels in India. Many of the world’s religions, are founded on various myths and beliefs, which may have certain historical or factual evidence, but often cannot be entirely supported on these. It is the believer’s faith perhaps that makes history out of this myth and gives it additional support in the form of evidence gathered from stories, folklore etc. Some of the newer religions however are less dependent on myth, as the lives of the founders are relatively better documented. While I am no expert, I always thought a religion like Sikhism , with a known founder , Guru Nanak, would therefore be more fact based, as opposed to say, Hinduism or Christianity . (Yes, Christ is known, but Christianity nevertheless is based on many unverifiable myths that need some degree of faith to be justified).
