Remembering my Botany Honours Batch of 2002-2003, Sikkim Government of College, Tadong. There are a few we never met after our graduation and there are a couple we will never meet again. A Paint the Change Contest was organized by WWF – India in collaboration with Sikkim University for generating awareness on Earth Hour on March 12, 2010 at Sikkim Government College and Namchi Public School. Earth Hour is a global event wherein people around the world voluntarily switch off their lights for an hour to show their concern about climate change.   68 participants coming from 12 schools, five colleges and Sikkim University took part in the contest at Gangtok, and 38 students from seven schools and two colleges at Namchi, wherein they painted on the issue of climate change and its impacts they observed around them in Sikkim. Press Release Earth Hour is WWF’s largest global campaign for raising awareness on climate change. It calls for a switch off of all non-essential lights for one hour. The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations. To join Earth Hour 2010 campaign, Sikkim University in collaboration with WWF-India is organising ‘Paint the Change Contest’ – for students on the impacts of Climate Change they see around them in Sikkim , on Friday, 12 th March 2010 at Sikkim Government College, Tadong at 2.00 pm and Namchi Public School, Namchi at 10.00 am. I had experienced several ups and downs in my life, but to me, my darkest hour still remains the 27th of May, 2000. How could I forget that day that shattered me, and my life turned out to be nowhere? Today, though, I did fight against the odds and came out a winner, but still, that day remains the darkest moment in my life. I want to assure my readers that I had RW during my B.Sc examination. JANUKA SHARMA Gangtok: An office of All Sikkim Students Union (ASSU) was inaugurated by Mr. Bimal Dawari, East Zilla Adhyaksha and chief guest at Tadong near Sikkim Government College on Friday. Mr. G.M.Gurung, a social worker of Tadong was guest of honour. Mr. Dawari said, students have an important role in the society to make it better living. He appreciated the work of ASSU and encouraged the organization to work selflessly for the welfare of the student. “Youth of Sikkim should pursue higher education at any cost”-Dr. Lama GANGTOK, November 28: “There are ample opportunities and exciting avenues for those who want to pursue their education with interest and dedication,” Dr. Mahendra P Lama, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Sikkim said. Addressing a huge congregation of students and academicians at a felicitation programme organised by the Sikkim Government College and held at the College auditorium here today, Dr. Lama said that the Sikkim University has been envisioned with the aim to prepare the youth to take up the challenges and the many avenues that are available for them today. Dr. Rajendra Bhandari, an eminent scholar and a lecturer in Nepali in SGC was also felicitated on the occasion.
