Singtam, June 13: Ten students of Shantinagar, Singtam were felicitated by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti that had successfully completed their Class X and XII Board Examination on June 12, 2017. In a program held at Archigos Preparatory School, the students were passed on good wishes and blessed for their future endeavour. Students along with their parents were congratulated and offered khadas.  Among the ten recipients Shareen Rai who had achieved 96.8 % in ICSE from St. Joseph’s Convent, Kalimpong was a District Topper. Kishore Subba from Singtam SSS was the School Topper at Commerce Stream in Class XII. The other students to receive the honour were Jayashree Rai, Razat Waiba, Neha Chettri, Diki Waiba, Sai Raj Sharma, Chewang Namgyal Bhutia (all Class X); Roshni Subba and Manisha Gurung (both Class XII). --> Singtam, May 28: It was a golden day for the East Point SSS at Golitar, Singtam where one of its students Navin Kumar Trivedi scored a “perfect 10” in this year CBSE 10 th examination results. Navin Kumar Trivedi hailing from Singtam bazaar had scored the highest Grade Point i.e. “10” along with “A1” Grade in each of the five subjects he had undergone. His subjects include English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. According to the newly introduced grading system “Grade Point 10” is given to the students who scores between 91 marks to 100 marks. Ten students from EPSSS had scored first division while the school pass percentage is 90 % with no failed students. Speaking to this reporter Navin Trivedi told that he is very happy about his performances. A Paint the Change Contest was organized by WWF – India in collaboration with Sikkim University for generating awareness on Earth Hour on March 12, 2010 at Sikkim Government College and Namchi Public School. Earth Hour is a global event wherein people around the world voluntarily switch off their lights for an hour to show their concern about climate change.   68 participants coming from 12 schools, five colleges and Sikkim University took part in the contest at Gangtok, and 38 students from seven schools and two colleges at Namchi, wherein they painted on the issue of climate change and its impacts they observed around them in Sikkim. To join Earth Hour 2010 campaign, Sikkim University in collaboration with WWF-India is organising ‘Paint the Change Contest’ – for students on the impacts of Climate Change they see around them in Sikkim , on Friday, 12 th March 2010 at Sikkim Government College, Tadong at 2.00 pm and Namchi Public School, Namchi at 10.00 am. SINGtAM:  They came, they saw, but they did not conqueror, and yet they were winners of their own rights.   The first round exit from the audition of the Nachyo Babari held at SDF Bhawan in Gangtok on September 13 did not deter the minds of students of Burung Primary School near Singtam.  The mere opportunity to perform at the stage of the state-level competition was more than a lifelong experience for them.  Burung Primary School, in its twenty-fourth year of establishment, broke their jinx when it sent its five students and its choreographer to participate in the dance competition. All girls’ group dance participants included students of age groups fourteen and fifteen. All the students were visiting Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, for the very first time. In one of a grandeur gesture students of the Government Secondary School at Yuksom in West Sikkim have written a five page letter to Mahendra Singh Dhoni with a Lays wrapper stapled along with it. Dhoni endorses potato chips which uses non bio-degradable wrappers. Dhoni's advertisement of LAYS "Please come and see for yourself. Should not we aspire to keep our pristine environment unpolluted?" the students wrote seeking his cooperation in their endeavour to keep the environment clean. It was found that in a cleanliness drive from Yuksom to Dzongri last month, the students had come across wrappers of the potato chips comprising 47 per cent of the non bio-degradable waste in the state.
