Nirmal Mangar, my good journalist friend shares his anecdotes meeting with Prime Minister Modi. He was among the Sikkim Journalist Team that got an opportunity to witness the proceedings of parliament at New Delhi last year.  Nirmal Mangar in his facebook status writes.... " It was last monsoon, I got an opportunity to meet the man of India in Parliament House, I felt pompous and happy to thank him on mentioning Sikkim's organic mission in both the parliaments ( of India and Nepal) also not to forget his Germany visit. I still have a strong memory of him telling ' Main January mein Sikkim aunga (I will come to Sikkim on January) and will declare your state as the first in the country to adopt organic farming ' Finally, the great moment has arrived." Bijoy Gurung, formerly a reporter for The Statesman and presently the UNI correspondent for Sikkim, was awarded the ‘Most promising journalist in Sikkim for the year 2006-07’ by Ram Patro Memorial Award Committee during a function here today. Nirmal Mangar, a reporter with Sikkim Express, was awarded the ‘Best working journalist in Sikkim Express for the year 2006-07’. Ram Patro Memorial award for the most promising journalist of Sikkim was given to Shri Bijay Gurung, correspondent of UNI and the award for best working journalist in Sikkim Express was given to Shri Nirmal Mangar. The award was given to two journalist by the Chief Guest, Shri B.B.Gooroong, former Chief Minister and advisor to the Chief Minister of Sikkim and former MLA Shri J.B . Pradhan. The Ram Patro Memorial Award selection committee has selected Vijay Gurung, Sikkim Correspondent – UNI for the Ram Patro Memorial Award for the most promising journalist of the State for 2006-07. GANGTOK, May 17: The celebration of 33rd statehood of Sikkim brought with it a double treat to Sikkim Express, with two of its journalists Ms Sarikah Atreya and Nirmal Mangar acknowledged as ‘best upcoming journalist’ by the State Government. The two journalists were awarded with a citation and cash award of Rs 25,000 each from the hands of the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at Chintan Bhawan along with seven other individuals for their contributions and excellence in different fields.
