CM says that the party must win from every single booth in the coming Assembly elections Namchi, 4 March: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) celebrated its 27 th Foundation Day in a grand central function in Namchi, South Sikkim today with local functions in all 31 assembly constituencies. 75,000 people were part of the state-wide celebrations. The celebrations are a tribute to 4 th March 1993 when the revolution against the anti-people and autocratic Sikkim Sangram Parishad government was formalised by the formation of the SDF party. The annual celebrations on the foundation day of the SDF are a commemoration of true democracy coming to Sikkim and the years of good governance that followed for 25 years after the party came to power in 1994. From Sikkim Express Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party president, Pawan Chamling is worth nearly Rs. 1.5 crores. In his affidavit submitted to the District Collector, South along with his nomination papers in Namchi today, Mr. Chamling’s net worth is valued at Rs. 14,299,347 in movable and immovable properties (SEE BOX). In his affidavit, the SDF leader declared immovable properties in commercial and residential buildings worth Rs. 5,215,888 in total. Agricultural land in his name is valued at Rs. 7,69,909. Gangtok: Sikkim Democratic Front has taken a strong exception to one West Bengal minister’s derogatory remarks on the SDF government in Sikkim in a press conference held at a hotel here on Sunday. Without naming the minister (Asok Bhattacharjee), point to point rebuttal has been given to his insinuations regarding democracy, labour law and other matters in a press release issued by SDF General Secretary, Mr. Bhim Dahal. “The pro-people labour friendly SDF government under the Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Chamling does need any coaching from the West Bengal minister who can not solve even an iota of problems in his own constituency, let alone the problems of his state”, the release says. Gangtok: A report of Sify News titled “Sikkim political parties back Gorkhaland demand”, said to have been filed from Gangtok on Friday, June 27, 2008, appeared on the Google website on the same day. Quoting PTI based in Gangtok as the source, the report attributed a statement to Mr B. B. Gooroong, political advisor to the Sikkim chief minister, which Mr Gooroong emphatically refuted.
