RANGPO, February 9, 2023 : The Executive Members of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) met the Players and support staff who are selected for the first-ever Inter-Zonal Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. Miss Leezamit Lepcha, Miss Pranita Chettri and Miss Yudenmit Lepcha will be representing the Northeast Zone from Sikkim, while the Senior Physiotherapist of SICA Miss Sheril Lepcha has been appointed as the Physiotherapist of the team.  While addressing the players and support staff the Honorary Secretary Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Jt. Secretary Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, Councillor Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal and Member Mr Rajen Gurung gave a special thanks to Miss Kikam Bhutia - Senior women’s coach, who on the call from SICA spared her time and trained the girls before leaving for the tournament. The executives on behalf of the entire Sikkim Cricket Association wish the team the best of luck for the upcoming tournament.

Sikkim Cricketer Ankur Malik has been selected to play in the upcoming Under 19 Men’s One Day Trophy to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 25 th  October to 10 th  November 2021. This is for the second time after Amos Rai who was selected for Zonal Cricket in the year 2000 that the player has been selected to play in the higher division of the Domestic Tournament.  Ankur Malik aged 17, has been part of the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy and gave a remarkable performance in the tournament. Out of five league matches, Sikkim played only four matches (one match was abandoned due to rain). He scored 205 runs in four matches and took 16 wickets. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for Season 2021-22, Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) has signed three male guest players from Karnataka and Women’s cricketer from Bengal and Mumbai named Liyan Khan, Karthik C.A, Kranthi Kumar, Rinki Rajak, Manizha Mumtaz and Jetsun Narbu Chee. Liyan Khan aged 29, the Right-hand top-order batsman and Leg Spinner has represented Karnataka in Under 19, Under 23, Under 25 categories and has also played Ranji Trophy for the State. He has also represented South Zone in the Under 19 category. Kranthi Kumar aged 28, Right-hand batsman, and Right-arm medium-fast bowler has represented Karnataka in Under 19, Under 22, Under 25 categories and List A matches. 17.04.21 : Cricket in Sikkim has seen a huge resurgence in the past few years and this is only good news for the people of Sikkim . Sikkim Cricket Association hosts its new season of the Khangchendzonga shield Division A League for the Clubs of Sikkim . This year though SICA has added high level guest teams in the roster. The President SICA, Mr Lobzang G Tenzing hopes to achieve this exact objective, to galvanise the current players in Sikkim by providing a platform of exposure to top quality cricket without having to leave the State.
