This topic was discussed in face book community  Proud to be a Sikkimese  Angela Bhutia don't know about being allowed but is still prevalent in rural parts of Sikkim if im not mistaken. Monalisa Chhetri Is it in India? I don't thnk so!! But have seen many cases where kids of about 14 yrs of age got married nd nobody did anythng bout it. And @Angela:I have seen it happen in nd around Gangtok which, I don't think,at all comes under the "so-called" rural area! Tshering Bhutia, a young and energetic literature lover of the locality read out the code of conduct of the programme as usual and the new and old literary figures like Bishnu Bhujel, Samsher Ali, Jangey Tamang, Dr. Kamal Pokhrel, Gyan Sutar, Hira Chhetri, Capt (Retd) Bhumiraj Rai, Tulshi Ojha recited their creative poems and short stories. By presenting a self composed song about the beauty of Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, B.K. BY SHITAL PRADHAN Today is Children's Day, better known for the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister. There is no doubt that everyone knew about the special relationship that Nehru shared with Sikkim. Nehru had preferred to spend his retirement life in Sikkim, which never happened, and if it had happened, we might never have known Sikkim could still have been an independent country till now. Nevertheless, I am here to talk about two special things about Nehru and Sikkim that few people remember or talk about. Nehru and his daughter Indira visited Sikkim twice in his life. Nehru inaugurated the world-famous Tibetology at Tadong. But the big thing, a lesser-known fact, is that after the death of Nehru, his ashes were brought to Sikkim and dispersed in the air around places like Gangtok, Pemayangste, and Kanchenjunga ranges.
