  Members of SPARK, a local NGO from Singtam bazaar, had a get-together on November 1 to celebrate the success of its member Prakash Sundas, who had won the singing competition at the recently concluded Namchi Mahotsav 2010, held on 28-30 October at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi. It should be noted that Prakash Sundas is a lone participant of the Indian Idol 5 from Sikkim who went through Mumbai round this year. Prakash Sundas was welcomed by Praveen Pradhan, President of SPARK, at the SPARK Office. Speaking on the occasion Praveen Pradhan told that Prakash Sundas’s triumph should not be considered a small achievement, a winner is always a winner whether the competition is held at smaller or in larger scale.   Born to lead – his motto has made Chetan Sapkota different from his friends of his age group.  The second son of D.P.Sapkota and Geeta Sapkota ( Raley Khesay ), this 26-year-old lad from Singtam is the face of societal gathering across different places of Sikkim today.  Chetan Sapkota represents the youth of Sikkim . Gangtok, May 17 (IST 5:15): Riding on a pro-incumbency wave, the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) on Saturday swept all 32 assembly and the lone Lok Sabha seats in Sikkim. SDF President Pawan Chamling led the charge in his party’s run for a fourth consecutive term in office, winning both his assembly constituencies -Poklok-Kamrang and Namchi-Singithang— in South Sikkim. Ruling party candidate P D Rai, too, sailed through in the parliamentary polls, defeating his Congress rival K N Upreti by a massive 84,868 votes. Senior SDF leader D N Takarpa, the speaker of the seventh legislative assembly, won the Rinchenpong (BL) assembly seat for a second term. I was present on the occasion that was graced by Dr. Pawan Kumar Chamling, Chief Minister of Sikkim. The State Level Teachers Convention on Quality Education at Jorethang ground was organized by State Level Teachers Convention Coordination Committee (SLTCC). The occasion was to felicitate CM by SLTCC for his genuine effort for the exemption of Central Income Tax and for bringing University in Sikkim . More than 5000 teachers from all four districts were present on the occasion. Talks on qualitative education in school and colleges were all discussed.
