SGSS Samaj Deusi 2020 concludes

15.11.20:  For the third successive year, Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti organised Samaj Deusi during the occasion of Diwali. In the previous years, Samaj Deusi was played at the residence premises of Shri Mohan Sunar (2018) and Shri PK Pradhan (2019). This year, in suggestion with President, Chief Advisor, Advisors and Executive Members, the venue was decided at the residence premises of Shri LP Chettri, Advisor, SGSS.     Shri Dhiraj Pradhan, Treasurer, SGSS was the host of the day. Shri LP Chettri was made the chairperson of the program. Prior to the start of the deusi, two minute silence was observed on the death of Late Prem Tshering Tamang, father of Shri Sarad Lama, Advisor, SGSS who passed away on November 13, 2020. Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS in his brief introduction speech said since last two years the Samiti had been utilising the fund received through deusi at SGSS annual calendar and other activities. es.   

SGSS sanitizes Shantinagar

04.09.2020 SINGTAM: A sanitization program was conducted today at different places of Shantinagar both upper and lower region. The sanitation programme was led by Krishna Chhetri, President, Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti and volunteered by Amber Pradhan who did the sanitization. Different areas that were covered included ATTC hostel along the lower belt till the church, touching all the stairways that are usually used by people to cross the walkway or the highway above. On the upper Shantinagar, the sanitization was done from ATTC road to Petrol Pump that included the premises of Shantinagar monastery also.  Different people had come together to help the initiative taken by Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti. Shantinagar and Tinek celebrates 150th Gandhi Jayanti

SHANTINAGAR : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated the 150th Gandhi Jayanti by conducting cleanliness drive near Badminton court along Ranikhola walkway and National Highway 10 at Shantinagar, Singtam. Chief Advisor, L. N. Pradhan lighted the lamp and addressed the gathered crowd about importance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness around our surroundings. Krishna Chettri, President, SGSS thanked everyone for coming and being part of the drive and appealed everyone to keep our place clean and green. Presents on the day were advisors T. B. Pradhan, L. P. Chettri, Shankhar Lamichanay, K. B. Sundas, Mohan Sunar, Nisu Dulal, Senior Citizen Dew Kumari Pradhan along with executive body and other members of SGSS. Shantinagar Samaj felicitates safaikarmacharis and others on Bapu’s Birthday

02.10.18 : Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti celebrated the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with joy and enthusiasm. The day long event held at Shantinagar included the inauguration of the paintings on the wall on the National Highway at Shantinagar, felicitations and cultural program. The beautiful paintings featuring the messages of healthy, green and organic Sikkim were made by the members of Krypton Arts Society Sikkim, based on Singtam. The wall painting was inaugurated by Head Lobella, Karma Thujee Monastery, Shantinagar, Singtam, the Chief Guest of the day. Plantation drive was also held along the wall by the Chief Guests and other distinguished guests. LN Pradhan, Chief Advisor of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti gave the welcome speech. A lizard with two tails

The two-tailed ‘house lizard’ surprised me that evening, almost making me. The small reptile, more commonly a house lizard, is no new species to me, but in all my years, I have not encountered anything I saw at my home in Shantinagar on the evening of August 12, 2018. A whitish lizard  and a  bhitti  moved  on the wall beside the dining table. At first glance, I considered it just the usual lizard until I saw something strange at its tail. I stood up and went near the wall to look closer - just to find that the lizard I was watching had two tails instead of a standard one tail. I took no time to pick up my mobile and took a few shots. Shedding off a tail is a common thing, every internet article on the tails of lizards writes. But in some cases, the new tail regenerates along with a new tail from the broken tail.
