G.M. Gurung of Rangpo felicitated at Chisopani, Dokhey, East Sikkim

G.M. Gurung of Rangpo, East Sikkim, was felicitated by the hand of the Hon'ble Chairman of Sikkim Film Board, Shri Uttam Pradhan, on the eve of the 71st Independence Day Ceremony held at Sakyong Chisopani School ground for his utmost contribution to the village since many years. The felicitation was constituted by Boudha Sangha Samaj, Chisopani. Along with him, two others were also felicitated.

SMC and student guardian carry out school sanitation drive

SINGTAM, JUNE 3: Newly formed members of the School Managing Committee along with students’ guardians of Sakyong Chisopani JHS carried a day-long cleanliness drive in and around Sakyong Chisopani JHS premises. The team was led by Montika Gurung, President SMC, Sakyong Chisopani JHS, and also attended by the school staff. Speaking on the occasion, Montika Gurung had said, the cleanliness around the school premises is not limited to the school authority, we as an SMC, guardians, and local villagers should come forward and make our contributions too. We are happy with the day-to-day progress of the school and we shall always be there for the betterment of the school, added Gurung. We teach our children about cleanliness at home and we feel the school is the second home of our children, so we are here to spread the message of a clean and better environment, echoed the guardians and the local villagers. The cleanliness drive was also done in view of the approaching Environment day.

HCM scholarship selected student visits his former school

SINGTAM, APRIL 8: Prakash Gurung, a former student of Sakyong Chisopani JHS visited his old school today to meet his friends before heading for Dehradun.   Gurung, hailing from Chisopani, near Singtam had stood 8 th among the 95 students selected for this year HCM scholarship. Gurung has been selected to study at The Aryan School at Dehradun,   Uttarakhand and will be leaving in a week time. Prakash Gurung had started his schooling from Sakyong Chisopani JHS and was a student of the school till class ii when he left for Gyalshing. Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster of Sakyong Chisopani JHS congratulated Gurung and offered his a khada. He shared good wishes to Prakash Gurung on the behalf of the students and staff. World Sparrow Day observed at Sakyong Chisopani JHS

  SINGTAM, MARCH 20:     For the second successive year, Sakyong Chisopani JHS observed the World Sparrow Day at its school today. In a small function held in a class room, a photo exhibition of birds clicked by Shital Pradhan, teacher, Sakyong Chisopani JHS around the Chisopani locality was also organised. Teachers and students of the school were present on the occasion. A short workshop about the conservation of birds was also held. Shital Pradhan and Monu Hang Khewa, GT (Bio) was the resource person of the day. Monu Hang Khewa in his word told the students that the whole world is in caring sparrows and we too should come together for the support. It might not be too late that we might see these beautiful creatures in photographs in coming days. This does not mean we have to protect sparrows only, for us every bird whether big or small is special and we need to provide them an equal chance to survive, added Khewa. Manjusri Public School and Chisopani JHS shares Inter-Exchange School program

SINGTAM, DECEMBER 15 : On December 13, a friendly exhibition football match was held at Manjusri Public School's ground between Chisopani JHS and Manjusri Public School. The boys from the host school went on to win the match with three goals to one. Karan Gurung went on to score the lone goal for his Chisopani JHS; Rohit Bista scored two goals for his home team, while the visiting school team scored a self-goal. Earlier in the first half of the session, teachers and students of Manjusri Public School had visited Chisopani JHS. More than two dozen Chisopani JHS students visited Manjusri Public School for an interschool exchange program this time. The home school welcomed the students of Chisopani JHS with a musical program, which was highly appreciated by the visiting school's students. RGKA participants congratulated

SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 24:   Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster of Sakyong Chisopani JHS, congratulated his students for successfully participating in the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, which was held at Khamdong on September 18 and 19. A small program was held at the school premises, and the participating students were presented with medals. The GPU level Under 16 boys & girls sporting events had participants from Khamdong GPU, Simik Lingzey GPU, Sirwani- Chisopani GPU, and Dungdung-Thasa GPU falling under the Khamdong Block Administration. Boys and girls participated in boxing, archery, badminton, Kho-kho, and football games.  The students of Sakyong Chisopani JHS, representing Sirwani Chisopani JHS, won the football final, defeating their rival GPU team by two goals to one.  Roshna Gurung, a class vi student, placed first in an archery event. Brother duo helps Chisopani JHS defeat Bright Life Academy 7 - 0

SINGTAM, AUGUST 11: Brother duo of Nikhil Rai and Neeraj Rai shared five goals as Chisopani JHS went on to score seven goals to nil against Bright Life Academy in the 68 th Independence Day Inter school JHS Level Football Tournament held at Chisopani JHS. Karan Gurung scored the first goal for his team thereafter it was the brother duo that dominated the football field. Nikhil Rai went on to score a hat-trick with his three goal while his younger brother Neeraj Rai coming as a substitute added two goals for his school team. The other goal was scored Lakpa Tamang. The opponent team tried their best but could not resist the mighty attacks of the centre forwards of Chisopani JHS’s boys. Awareness programme on World population day held

SINGTAM. JULY 11: Chisopani JHS observed an awareness programme on the occasion of World Population Day at their school today.   The theme of the event was “Census and You”.   Highlight of the program was speech competitions on the topic of Population among the students and talks on consequences of over population and importance on Population Census. Interaction session between the teachers and students was also held that was more of a knowledge sharing experience. Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster of the school was the host of the day, he briefed about the need of the observation of the day.   He addressed the students and staff of the school with presentation of the National Population charts and other information sheets provided by the Khamdong BAC. Chisopani JHS visits Gangtok on educational field trip

SINGTAM, JUNE 29 : Students of Chisopani JHS went for an educational field trip in and around Gangtok on June 28. Escorted by Shital Pradhan, Monu Hang Khewa, teachers from Chisopani JHS, and Arjun Chettri, HM, Tadong Primary School, North Sikkim, around 18 students were visiting the state capital. Most of the students were visiting Gangtok for the very first time. They visited Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok, Himalayan Zoological Park, Tashi View Point, Smriti Van, Burtuk Helipad, Ban Jhakari Falls, MG Marg and Gangtok Lal Bazaar. The students echoed that it was the best day of their lives and that they would always remember their visit to the places they had been to in Gangtok. We saw Red Panda, the state animal of Sikkim that was limited to our school books; it looks like the size of a cat, said Mailika Lamichaney, one of the students. Chisopani JHS and Ralap SS celebrates International Day of Sports for the Development of Peace

SINGTAM, APRIL 7:   Ralap SS defeated Chisopani JHS five goals to one in an exhibition match played at Chisopani JHS today. Both schools were observing the International Day of Sports for the Development of Peace. Trophies, prizes and certificates were presented to the players by the Chief Guest.  Bimal Lamichaney, Panchayat President, Sirwani Chisopnai GPU was the Chief Guest of the day while the other guest included Karma Jigme Bhutia and Michael Lepcha (Pandam Football Academy), Dorjee Sherpa, Headmaster, Ralap SS, Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster Chisopani JHS, his staff and the students and local villagers.   Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster Chisopani JHS in his welcome speech welcomed the guests and spoke about the occasion, Football is the most popular sport in the world and it is a sport that can spread peace everywhere. World Sparrow Day observed at Chisopani JHS

SINGTAM, MARCH 21:   The students and teachers observed World Sparrow Day at its school building on March 20. The day marked with an awareness workshop followed by competitions on activities related to preservation and conservation of birds. Santosh Sharma (pursuing PhD on Avian diversity of Sikkim, Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar) and Krishna Prasad Dahal, (pursuing M.Sc on Forestry, NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh) were the speakers of the day. Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster, Chisopani JHS and his staff were present on the occasion. More than hundred students attended the programme. The best part of the day was when a few students submitted their catapults to the school and vowed not to shoot the birds in the near future. Altogether 8 catapults were received by the school. Competitions were held for the students that included nest making, treehouse making, placards, and short speeches on the importance of birds.
