Sikkim's Lomas Dhungel Among 51 'Changemakers' Honoured at National Meet by Samanway Pratisthan

PALANPUR, GUJARAT – The Samanway Pratisthan , a Vadodara -based NGO, has concluded its four-day Changemakers Meet 2025 , a national program celebrating individuals who have made significant societal contributions. The event, which began on September 5, was supported by the India Foundation and Banas Dairy , Asia’s largest dairy farm. For three months, the Samanway Pratisthan conducted a nationwide search for "unsung heroes" for its first-ever meet under The Changemakers Network (TCN). The program's theme was "Be a Sarathi of Viksit Bharat 2047." From 27 states, 51 "Changemakers" were selected for their exceptional work in fields like health, education, and social service. Sikkim’s Hariyo Makha among TOP 18 'Wow Initiative' at Swachhta Saarthi Samaroh 2022, Delhi

October 1, Singtam : A 2-day program on the "Swachhta Saarthi Samaroh 2022" was organised at IIT Delhi under the banner of the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the Govt of India.  Earlier in 2021, the office of the PSA under its "Wealth to Waste" mission launched the Swacchta Saarthi Fellowship to recognise students and individuals working on waste management. Thousands of applications from 27 states and 7 UTs were received by the Invest India group out of which only 379 fellows were selected. The Waste to Wealth Mission is one of the nine national missions of the Prime Minister's Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM - STIAC).  Lomas Dhungel working as a Graduate Teacher at Govt Sr Sec School, Makha was one of the successful candidates who represented Sikkim. Teacher Lomas Dhungel felicitated by Sun Pharma Sikkim

07.06.22: A one-day program on the occasion of World Environment Day was organised at Unit 2 of Sun Pharma Laboratories, Ranipool. The program was graced by Dr Gopal Pradhan, Member Secretary, Sikkim Pollution Control Board who was also the chief guest of the program. The program started with the plantation of a sapling by the chief guest. Various environmental initiatives undertaken by Sun Pharma Sikkim were highlighted. The chief guest was presented with a Token of Gratitude.  He imparted awareness of various aspects of the environment to the staff of Sun Pharma.  The event also saw the presentation of Lomas Dhungel who is working as a teacher in Government Senior Secondary School, Makha. He was felicitated with a Token of Appreciation for his works on the Hariyo Makha project.

Success story of Hariyo Makha initiative celebrated

SINGTAM, March 16: A felicitation program was organized at the school premises of Adarsh Vidhya Mandir (AVM), Singbel, East Sikkim on March 14. Shital Pradhan , a teacher and a blogger was the Chief Guest of the day. The event also saw the presence of B.B. Chettri (Headmaster, Dipudara Primary School), Lomas Dhungel (Founder cum Developer, Hariyo Makha), Bhim Prasad Nepal (1971 Bangladesh war veteran), along with SMCs, SHGs, students and locals. The event was the celebration of the success story of Hariyo Makha initiative. Lomas Dhungel led Hariyo Makha initiative had shared his idea on upcycling plastics for book covers to Ajambari Self Help Group (Singbel) for a social experiment on cleanliness.
