A copy of CIA reports of Sikkim UFO sightings in 1968 UFO sightings in Sikkim are rarely heard or reported but it was after the declassification reports posted online by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) one such report of UFO sightings of 1968 in the Himalayan region caught my interest. The report   mentions the UFO activity of February-March 1968 in India/Nepal/Bhutan/China .  The sightings at Sikkim were recorded at Lachung, Lachen, Thangu, Muguthang and Chholhamu on February 19, 1968. The report reads the directions were North East to South West. The object was giving light from the tail and it was not bright enough to brighten the entire area. The thunder sound was heard at Chholhamu after the sighting of the object. So, this is the first official sighting of UFOs in Sikkim, making it a point that we were visited in the past and we have equal chances that ‘ they ’  might have been visiting us here and there.

This decision has been made as an initiative for conservation of the holy lake of Gurudongmar situated at 5183 meters, which over the years has been growing as a tourist destination in the state. The lake area is a biodiversity hotspot and also highly significant as it is one of the main sources for river Teesta, and believed to be touched and blessed by Guru Padmasambhava. By Dalvinder Singh (Grewal) A group consisting of Sardar Harbhajan Singh (Setia) and fourteen other Sikh devotees from Delhi returned last March after a visit to Gurdwara Guru Dongmar in North Sikkim. Guru Dongmar is a lake at a height of 18,000 feet alongside a glacial peak known by the same name. The lake remains frozen most of the year due to heavy snowfall for almost six months each year. Guru Nanak visited the place during his third udasi in order to solace the Karma-pa Nying-ma-pa sects then being hounded out from Tibet by the Ge-lug-pa sect. Many from the Karma-pa Nying-ma-pa sect were the followers of Guru Nanak, as their Head Lamas became Guru Nanak's followers in Kailash Mansarovar area after being impressed by Guru Nanak's discussions with the famous Sidhas of the age. These sects had fled from Tibet to the Himalayan belt of Northern India, which included Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttra-Khand, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Prades...

Lachen vows to “adopt extreme measures” to oppose the Teesta Stage-I hydro-electric power project GANGTOK, May 6: The discontentment of local people over mega hydro electric power projects in the State, especially those planned in North Sikkim seem to be gathering more steam, with Lachen joining in the protests against the Teesta Stage-I hydro electric power project, proposed to come up in the area. The Dzumsa of Lachen has rejected the Teesta Stage-I hydro electric power project, saying that the project will have “far-reaching adverse affect on the people of Lachen.” In a strong-worded letter to the Himalayan Green Hydro Energy Pvt. Ltd, a private consortium handling the Teesta Stage-I project, a copy of which was faxed to the local media, the Pipons of Lachen Dzumsa, Chowo Rabjor Lachenpa and Goekay Lachenpa, while expressing their apprehensions over the Project, has said that the people of Lachen do not accept the Project in their area and stand firm in their d...
