The opening of the 98ft 'Cherenzig Shingkham Riwo Potala' near Pelling, West Sikkim marks the completion of the statutes of three principal Buddhist deities in Sikkim. The other two being the Buudha Statue at Ravangla and Guru Padmashambha Statue at Namchi, both in South Sikkim. The Cherenzig complex spread over 8.5 acre of land have a sky-walk - a stair case, water body with the magnificent eight- serpents (Klu- Chen- Gyet) and religious artifacts. A plaque of Cherenzig Shingkham Riwo Potala was officially inaugurated by the Chief Minister Shri. Pawan Chamling in presence of His Eminence Gonja Rinpoche and His Eminence Lachung Rinpoche on November 2, 2018. The total height of the statue from the base of the pedestal on which it is mounted is 135ft while the statue is 98 ft. There is a fleet of 100 stairs leading to the foot of the statue. Visit to Krishna Mangaldham at Namphing

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 23 : Shantinagar Sai Bhajan Mandali celebrated Sri Satya Sai Baba's 89th birth anniversary at Sai Mandir, Shantinagar. Highlights of the day-long program included gifting blankets and shawls to the needy, singing bhajan, felicitation, a cultural program, and food serving. Prasadam was offered after the bhajans. Today’s birthday program was organized to serve humanity as Bhagwan Baba had always followed. We, the Shantinagar Sai Bhajan Mandali, are just spreading the message of Bhagwan Baba, reads the press release. The program started with the Supravatam, Nagar Kirtan, at around 4 a.m. Shri Mani Kumar Dulal, Mrs. Mamta Dulal, Mrs. Meera Baraily, and Miss Neha Chettri were felicitated on the occasion for their best and active services.   Blankets and Shawls were distributed to the needy. The evening program included cultural programs to encourage Bal-Bikash students, including an offering of cake to Bhagwan Baba followed by aarti.

Just the other day, I was at a place where I had been repeatedly called upon for a visit, and somehow, I could not carry on. I was told I had to have a good walk along the jungle, and although I was interested in visiting the place, it did not happen suddenly. Finally, this December 14, I was to this place, more or less an area that had been pushed aside by the development of today’s Sikkim. It took me more than two hours to reach the place, and I am happy I did it and saw the other side of the world that was part of our Sikkim.  I was there to attend an annual function of Pacha Saraswati Primary School and also become part of a blanket distribution for the families affected by the 18/9 Earthquake. This school at North Regu could be one of the furthest situated government schools in East Sikkim.
