Commemorative Stamp Released to Mark 50 Years of Sikkim’s Statehood

29.05.25: On the momentous occasion of the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood , a special commemorative postage stamp and First Day Cover were jointly released by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim and the Hon’ble Chief Minister , in the presence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister (virtually). The Sikkim Philatelic Society expresses great pride and excitement over this historic philatelic achievement. This is the first postage stamp officially released in Sikkim. The cancellation on the First Day Cover is of the Legislative Assembly . The stamp is designed by Kamleshwar Singh. Presenting the first look of the postage stamp unveiled today, the beautifully crafted ₹5.00 stamp—issued by India Post —features the map of Sikkim and artistically showcases the state's rich cultural heritage , vibrant agriculture , and stunning natural beauty .

Sikkim Philatelists wins two silver and three bronze at TARAIPEX 2023

16.10.23, Singtam: Sikkim Philatelists achieved remarkable success at the two-day TARAIPEX 2023 , a District Level Philatelic Exhibition organized by the Department of Posts at Ramkinkar Hall , Dinabandu Manch, Siliguri . In the senior category, Depen Pradhan secured a silver and a bronze medal for his exhibits “ India Pre-Independence " and ‘Indian Freedom Struggle through Philately’.  Similarly, Sishir Pradhan and Shital Pradhan each received a Bronze for their exhibits ' The World of Football ' and ' Special Covers of Sikkim ', respectively. Master Avishu Pradhan, a student of St. Joshep, Rhenock won a silver in the Junior category for his exhibit ' Stamps on Personalities '. Sikkim Philatelic Society Hosts Philatelic Workshop at Army Public School in Gangtok

Gangtok, May 10th, 2023 – The Sikkim Philatelic Society held a philatelic workshop at the Army Public School in Gangtok yesterday, with more than thirty students from classes five to nine in attendance. The workshop was organized by the Army Postal Office, Gangtok, in association with the Sikkim Philatelic Society and Gangtok HPO, Sikkim Post . The event saw the participation of Karamjit Singh, Field Post Master, 771 FPO, Gangtok; Sameer Pradhan, Marketing Executive Gangtok HPO , Sikkim Post; Ganesh Pradhan; Shital Pradhan, President and General Secretary, Sikkim Philatelic Society; and teachers and students of Army Public School , Gangtok. This workshop is part of a series of philatelic seminars organized by the Army in different parts of North Bengal and Sikkim. Philatelist Roshan Prasad wins Silver at AMRITPEX 2023

16.02.23, Singtam : Roshan Prasad , a popular philatelist from Sikkim wins a Silver at AMRITPEX 2023 National Philatelic Exhibition . The event was held in Delhi from 11th to 15th February 2023 and organized by The Department of Posts , Government of India in consultation with the Ministry of Culture and Philatelic Congress of India . Prasad wins his sixth medal in the National Philatelic Exhibition on his theme ‘ The story of Cricket ’, a five-frame exhibit of cricket philately . Roshan Prasad was the lone participant from Sikkim at AMRIPEX 2023 and we all feel proud of his achievement said Ganesh Pradhan , President, of Sikkim Philatelic Society . Governor of Sikkim releases two Special Covers designed by Singtam’s Roshan Prasad

12.10.22, Singtam: His Excellency the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad, unveiled two special covers on October 11, 2022, during an event held at Raj Bhawan, Gangtok. The covers were designed by Roshan Prasad. Singtam-based philatelist and medalist Roshan Prasad created both the covers of Bakery Snacks Confectionary Products and Ginger Based Products. His work on this Special Cover was his ninth overall. The cover was an initiative of the Government of India highlighting "One District One Product" on the occasion of National Postal Week from October 9th through October - 13th, 2022. SPS has welcomed Col. Akhilesh Kumar Pandey and Shri Ravi Lama, the newly appointed Postmaster General, Sikkim Postal Division, and Deputy Superintendent of Posts, Sikkim Postal Division. Sikkim Philately will undoubtedly benefit from the new height adds Ganesh Pradhan, President, of  Sikkim Philatelic Society.

Indra Jatra picture postcards released

This #indrajatra2022, Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society came up with the release of two postcards. The visitors were asked to post the selected postcard to the letter box. Each of them found the initiative nostalgic and down memory lanes.

Crossite Philately Club opened at Holy Cross School

01.08.22, Singtam : A philately club with the name ‘Crossite’ was officially opened at Holy Cross School, Tadong on July 30, to promote stamp collection among students. Twenty students had enrolled their names on this hobby club. Sr. Florin Mary Murmu and Mukesh Kumar Jha would be the President and Secretary of the club. A philatelic talk, workshop and stamp exhibition were held on the occasion. The event was organised by the Department of Post, Government of India, Sikkim State in association with the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society (SPNS). Samir Pradhan, Marketing Head, Gangtok Post Office presented stamps stationeries to the new stamp collectors. Roshan Prasad bag’s Large Silver in Royalpex Stamp Exhibition in New Zealand

03.03.22, Singtam : Roshan Prasad, a popular philatelist from Singtam, Sikkim has won an International Medal at  Royalpex 2021, Central Energy Trust Arena, Palmerston North, New Zealand. His  five-frame exhibits on the topic " The Story of Cricket" organized  as  per the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP) rules  won Large Silver  in the thematic class of the exhibition.  Over a hundred participants had participated in the exhibition from countries like Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, etc. He is a member of the Philatelic Congreeeof India, Emirates Philatelic Association, and Sikkim Philatelic & Numismatic Society.  Shital Pradhan, Secretary, Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society has congratulated him for his success and wished him many more successes in days to come. Winners of virtual SIKKIMPEX 2021 announced

02.12.21: The winners of the virtual SIKKIMPEX 2021, the State Level Philatelic Exhibition have been declared. Two days the online exhibition was inaugurated on November 29, 2021, and displayed on www.sikkimpex2021.com. The philatelic exhibition was organized by Sikkim Postal Division, Gangtok under West Bengal Circle. Thirty-seven frames in 21 different philatelic themes were exhibited on the website.   Roshan Prasad’s exhibit of ‘The Story of Cricket’ was declared the first position followed by Sishir Pradhan’s ‘The World of Football’ and Deepen Pradhan’s ‘Indian Pre Independence Stamp’ as second and third position respectfully. Similarly, on the Junior Category, Tanishka Pradhan (Mt. Zion, Singtam), Aryan Pradhan (St. Joshep, Rhenock), and Suyog Shital Pradhan (Mt. Zion, Singtam) stood first, second and third respectively. NOVEMBER 29, GANGTOK  : Two days SIKKIMPEX 2021, the State Level Philatelic Exhibition in virtual mode was officially unveiled by   Joseph Lalrinsailova,  PostMaster General, North Bengal and Sikkim Region at Gangtok Post Office Hall. The competitive and non-competitive exhibits would be displayed on  www.sikkimpex2021.com . The philatelic exhibition was organized by Sikkim Postal Division, Gangtok under West Bengal Circle. Singtam Heritage Post Box and its story

I was part of a beautiful concept initiated by Roshan Prasad, our renowned philatelist from Singtam, to reinstall a neglected post box lying near the old post office building at the heart of the bazaar.   In a unique event, the members of the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society added a page to the map of the world’s postal history when they removed the neglected post box, gave it new colours, and permanently installed it near the water fountain as a Heritage Post Box. An earlier Sikkim postal cancellation mark, along with details about the establishment of the Post Office in Singtam in 1903, was inscribed on the stone slab beneath the base of the Post Box. Roshan Prasad wins his first International Literature medal on Philately

SINGTAM, MARCH 8: Sikkim Philatelist Roshan Prasad added another feather to his International Philatelic medals when he bagged a bronze medal at the Stamp Exhibition EPAEX 2020 – Dubai held on March 3-7, 2020 at Dragon Mart 2, Dubai, UAE. He won his medal for his book – The Stamp Collector’s Dictionary. Eight countries had participated in the exhibition that was organised by Emirates Philatelic Associati on.  Earlier he had won Vermeil in Saudi Arabia, two Silvers at Taipei and Dubai, and now his fourth medal too at Dubai. His three international medals were on his cricket philately while this year’s bronze medal was won at a literature class. In addition, he has also won four medals at National Philatelic Exhibitions. Vivek Yonzone wins second consecutive Silver at National Philatelic Exhibition

SINGTAM, December 24 : For the second consecutive year, Vivek Yonzone from Singamari, Darjeeling , won a silver medal at the National Philatelic Exhibition at World Trade Center, Mumbai, on December 22. INPEX 2019 was organized by the Philatelic Congress of India from December 18-22, 2019. Yonzone is the General Secretary of the  ALPINE Philatelic and Numismatic Society . Yonzone displayed five-frame exhibits on Element of Music . His exhibition had both Indian and foreign materials on music. He is also a member of the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society. SINGTAM , December 22: Roshan Prasad from Singtam, Sikkim , wins bronze in Literature class at INPEX-2019 ( National Philatelic Exhibition ) at World Trade Center , Mumbai today. The exhibition was organized by the Philatelic Congress of India from 18 to 22 December 2019 in collaboration with the Department of Posts, India . He is a popular philatelist with International recognition and is also the Treasurer of the Sikkim Philatelic & Numismatic Society. Over 250 participants from various states of India participated in the competition. Stamps and Numismatic exhibition held at Duga School

DECEMBER 21, SINGTAM : Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatics Society held an exhibition on - Stamps, Numismatics, Autographs and other hobby-related materials at the Aurora Student Fest 2019 held at Sunrise Academy, Duga, East Sikkim on December 21. Award-winning philatelic exhibits, old Indian bank notes and foreign currencies were displayed. The crowd was excited to see the autographs of Bhaichung Bhutia, Danny Denzongpa, MS Dhoni, Kunti Mokhtan, Bhuwan KC and others. Sikkim Philatelists grabs 2 Silver and 3 Bronze at WEBPEX- 2019

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 21: Sikkim won two silver and three bronze medals at Ekla Cholo Re 2019, West Bengal State Philatelic exhibition held at Kolkata. The philatelic exhibition was held from November 16-22 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Maidan, Kolkata. Roshan Prasad and Sishir Pradhan won Silver for their exhibits ‘ The story of Cricket’ and ‘The World of Football’ .
