Rongli, 18th September 2015: Deven VI lifts the Open Volley Ball Tournament held at Garg Bhawan, Rongli. They defeated the team of Chujachen SSS and collected the winner trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Chujachen SSS received the Runner-Up trophy and the cash prize of Rs. 25,000. The winner trophy was sponsored by L. B. Gurung and B.B. Gurung in memory of their father late Indra Bahadur Gurung. SEPTEMBER 09, 2014: The State Level Indra Jatra Celebration at Singtam marked a historic moment. It was the first time that the Kumari Devi’s puja had been performed outside Gangtok in the last five years. Singtam, the busiest town in Sikkim, takes the honour of receiving the Kumari for the first year; it has been announced that Indra Jatra, the biggest festival of the Newar community, shall travel to different places of Sikkim for the coming eight years, and shall return to Gangtok thereafter. The Indra Jatra event was organised by Sikkim Newar Guthi and hosted by the Indra Jatra Celebration Committee 2014, Singtam. RONGLI, AUGUST 2: Sir B.K. P radhan Memorial Open Football Tournament reached its second day yesterday. Rongli Taxi Driver Association defeated Linkey 9 Bullet with four goals to nil. K.N Pradhan Former Zilla Adhakchya, East was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The tournament played at Melatar, Rongli is held in memory of B. K. Pradhan, father of Bikram Pradhan, Area MLA cum Chief Whip, Government of Sikkim. 28 teams are participating in the tournament that will be held till 15 th of August. The tournament was inaugurated by Krishna Kumari Pradhan, mother of Bikram Pradhan on 1st of August.
