He is presently under treatment at CMC, Vellore. He is there since September 2006. He has requested all the media organizations including Press Club of Sikkim, Press Club of India and Press Club of Chandigarh, charitable trust and others to come forward to contribute liberally. Himgiri Prakashan, Gangtok too has set up a Journalists' welfare fund for the cause of treatment to the cancer patient, shri Kishore Kirat.
