Sawney Primary School celebrates Hand-Washing Day

SINGTAM, OCTOBER 15 : Global Hand-Washing Day was observed at Sawney Primary School, West Pandam, East Sikkim, under Duga GVK today.  In a small program held at the school, Mohan Pradhan, Headmaster, spoke briefly about the importance of health and sanitation.  Mrs Sharmila Silal, PRT of the school, demonstrated the five steps of hand washing in front of the gathered students and teachers.  Padam Gautam, BR Subba, Nandu Sharma, and Tulshi Pradhan, teachers, also spoke on the occasion. Ganesh Pradhan, the teacher, went on to say that such activities have been followed at schools for a long time and that everyone should make them a daily habit. Safalta Pradhan, the School prefect, followed the steps taught by her teacher and also demonstrated them before her friends.

Sawney Primary School joins ‘Swacha Bharat Abhiyan’

SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 27:   Sawney Primary School, West Pandam, East Sikkim, joined with the rest of India to observe Prime Minister Narendra Modi's month-long nationwide "Swacha Bharat Abhiyan” from today.  A cleanliness drive along the school premises was observed. Mohan Pradhan' Neeraj’, Headmaster of the school, spoke about the importance of the day in a small program held at school premises.  Cleanliness has always been our primary concern in school, and we are happy that this time, we are observing a nationwide program, said Pradhan. He added that every student has the opportunity to be an example in society, and he encouraged each individual to be prepared for it. He further spoke about having better hygiene for improved personality development. Padam Gautam, a teacher, spoke about the significance of cleanliness, while Ganesh Pradhan, a teacher, talked about the impact of cleanliness on the environment. NED Program held at Government Primary School, Sawaney

SINGTAM, NOVEMBER 12:  Government Primary School, Sawaney, West Pandam, observed National Education Day on November 11, 2011, at its school premises. Cultural activities and rallies were the highlight of the occasion. Mohan Pradhan, Headmaster of Sawaney PS, gave the welcome speech, which was followed by a Prime Minister message read b y himself and the message from the Chief Minister read by Ganesh Pradhan, teacher, while BR Subba read out the message of Kapil Sibbal, Union HRDD Minister. Sunita Rai, Zilla Panchayat, West Pandam, was the Chief Guest of the day, which also included other distinguished guests: Dilp Rai, Buddhiman Rai, Deepak Rai, Mrs Kumari Rai, Mrs Ganga Devi Sunar, Indira Kumari Pradhan, CB Chettri, Mrs Nandu Sharma, and others. Padam Gautam, a teacher, gave a brief speech on RTE and CCE, while Dilip Rai, Harka Subba, and the Chief Guest also spoke on the occasion.

T B Pradhan elected President of Singtam Newar Kalyan Sangathan

Singtam: An annual meeting of Singtam Newar Kalyan Sangathan was held on December 21, 2009, at Bihari Dharamsala at Singtam. A day-long function was held that discussed various topics for the betterment of the community. The new resolution passed in the meeting included a major presence of the Newari women from Singtam in the organisation towards a better society. Also included in the talks was the encouragement of the Newari language and Newari customs among the people. Newari members from Golitar, Manpari Busty, Sirwani, Toppakhani, Sang Khola, Bardang, Sawaney, Shanti Colony, Lal Bazaar, Mandir Line and Shantinagar attended the meeting. The organisation's new portfolio was also presented on the given day. The new body has TB Pradhan as the President, Saran Pradhan as Vice President, Mohan Pradhan “Neeraj” as General Secretary, BB Pradhan as Joint Secretary, Bikash Pradhan as Treasurer, Uday Pradhan as Store Secretary, Shital Pradhan and Ganesh Pradhan as Publicity Secretary, ...
