From India's Ranji Trophy Hero to USA's T20 World Cup squad: The Rise of Milind Kumar

Cricket fans in Sikkim fondly remember Milind Kumar , a Delhi-based batsman who made history for their state. He joined the Sikkim cricket team as a guest player and set a new record during the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season, scoring an incredible 1,331 runs. This achievement made him the highest run-scorer of that season and a local hero. Milind's stellar performance caught the attention of many. In 2019, he was chosen to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over his career, he played 46 First-Class (FC) matches, 65 List A matches , and 61 T20 matches . In 2021, Milind announced his retirement from Indian cricket and decided to follow in the footsteps of former India Under-19 captain Unmukt Chand and other Indian players like Smit Patel , Harmeet Singh , and Siddarth Trivedi . 13.05.24: In his third match for Barnoldswick CC , Nilesh Lamichaney , Sikkim 's star allrounder has scored an unbeaten 131 runs in 114 balls (18 fours and 3 sixes) against the Baxenden CC . His bowling figure included one wicket in 8 overs with an economy rate of 5.50. Despite the brilliant game, Nilesh Lamichaney was on the losing side. Best wishes champ. Keep it up.

Sikkim Players Shines In Duleep Trophy

  The Duleep Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. It was earlier played between five Indian zonal teams – North Zone, South Zone , East Zone , West Zone and Central Zone on a knock-out basis. This year Northeast Zone team was introduced by the BCCI as the sixth team.    With the introduction of the Northeast Zone as the team that comprises players from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur , Meghalaya , Mizoram , Nagaland & Sikkim . They played their first-ever Duleep Trophy match with the West Zone (The best team) from 8th September to 12th September 2022 in Chennai . Ankur Mallik's 16 wickets helped Sikkim defeat Arunachal Pradesh by 248 runs at Col.C.K Nayudu Trophy

Sikkim ’s Ankur Mallik 's eight-wicket hauls in both the innings helped the Sikkim U-25 team defeat Arunachal Pradesh with 248 runs in the ongoing Col.C.K Nayudu Trophy held at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha . They finished their Plate Group as winners. Batting first the Sikkim team scored 206 with the help of Jeetendra Sharma ’s 86 runs. He shared two partnerships of 64 runs with Ankur Mallik and 47 runs with Robin Limboo . Arunachal Pradesh was all out for 58 runs with Ankur Mallik scalping eight wickets giving away 27 runs in 11.5 overs. Anwesh Karan Sharma took the other two wickets. Sikkim’s star allrounder Ankur Mallik scored an unbeaten 98 runs to take the score of Sikkim to 210 in their second innings. Chasing the target of 359 set by the Sikkim team, the team of Arunachal Pradesh could only manage 110 runs. Ankur Malik’s 225 helps Sikkim defeat Nagaland by 174 runs in CK Nayadu Trophy

The Under 25 Men’s team of Sikkim registered yet another victory and a consecutive win in “Col. C. K. Nayudu Trophy” , defeating Nagaland on their third match of the league round by 174 runs today at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.   Sikkim won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings, Sikkim scored 394 runs, where Ankur Mallik played a record-breaking knock of 225 runs, Suraj Gupta (40), Arun Chettri (38), Anwesh Karan Sharma (29), Rahul Kumar (18), and Robin Limboo (16) not-out. Chasing the target Nagaland was all-out for 266 runs trailing with 83 runs in the first innings. Sikkim showed a brilliant bowling spell with Ankur taking 6 wickets and Rahul Kumar 4 wickets. BCCI Appoints Tenzing As Manager Of India U19 World Cup Team

GANGTOK (SIKKIM), DECEMBER 21, 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Mr Lobzang G Tenzing, President of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), as the Manager of the India Under-19 Team that will play in the Asia Cup tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in the UAE from December 23 and ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in West Indies from January 14. BCCI Secretary named Mr Tenzing as the Under-19 Team Manager for the Asia Cup tournament to be played from December 23 to 31 and ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup to be played from January 14 to February 5, 2022. Sovima Cricket Ground inaugurated in Dimapur

A historic day for cricket in the Northeast. The Six member State Associations gathered in Dimapur to celebrate the inauguration of Sovima Cricket Ground along with participating in the 7th Conclave of Northeast Cricket Development Committee.   The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri. Neiphiu Rio, Associate Vice President Athletics Federation of India Shri Abu Metha, executives of Northeast and dignitaries.  Northeastern states and it's children for the longest time have not had access to the opportunities and facilities.
