Today I will talk about an old 1957 Hindi Classic film Madhumati, directed by Bimal Roy, a legend of Indian cinema. This black and white film had Dilip Kumar, Vijayanthimala, Johnny Walker, Pran, and Jayant in the lead role and is regarded as one of the milestones in Hindi cinema. I have seen this movie on television a couple of times and enjoyed it. The idea of this film has over the decades inspired many other hit films including Rishi Kapoor's Karz and Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om. The exciting part of the movie for me is not the acting skills of the great actors assembled nor the story that had been long talked about but one song that stayed with me in my mind for a long time.
