SINGTAM, JANUARY 7: Taran Pradhan from Bardang has won a bronze medal in 56 kg at boxing event at recently held National Rural Sports Competition Group V at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The competition held from December 27 – 30 was organised by Mission Directorate – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Taran Pradhan has thanked Pritam Shilal, his boxing coach for his triumph. He further thanked the state government for providing the platform and opportunity to showcase his skills. Pradhan was among 10 boxers from Sikkim who was selected to represent the state after his successful stint at Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan selections held at different parts of Sikkim. Sikkim boxers went on to win three bronze medals in the competition. Other bronze medalists from Sikkim were Kalpana Subba from Mangshila and Mausam Rai from Namchi.
