SpiceJet, the only carrier flight in Sikkim suspend operations

SpiceJet, the only carrier flight in Sikkim's Pakyong, has decided to suspend operations in Sikkim from October 30 due to "operational constraints", reports the PTI news. Further, the airline spokesperson had said,  bad weather and low visibility were bottlenecks that had led to operational constraints. Pakyong airport is India's 100th airport inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in 2018 and is the only airport in the state of Sikkim. At a height of 4646 feet, it is one of India's highest airports.

Sikkim Sangram Parishad, regional political party in Sikkim was formed in 1984, when NB Bhandari, leader of Sikkim Janta Parishad dissolved his old party to form a new one. The SSP Party went on to win two state elections in 1984 and 1989 - winning all 32 seats in the house.  After losing two consecutive state elections to Sikkim Democratic Front, Bhandari merged SSP with Indian National Congress and became the President of Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) in 2004. Bhandari later in 2013 revived SSP again. After the death of NB Bhandari in 2017, his wife Dil Kumari Bhandari became the President of Sikkim Sangram Parishad. Xaverian Alumni and Gnagtok Lions Club organises free Health Camp held at Pakyong

PRESS RELEASE 31 st  October 2018 : The Association of Xaverian Alumni (AXA) in association with Lions Club Gangtok organised a Free Health Camp at Gram Prasasan Kendra hall at Pakyong Bazar on the 31st of October 2018. The Doctors and Specialists from different fields like Medicine, Psychiatry, ENT, Gynaecology, Neuro-surgery, Orthopaedic and General physician were present. The Eye section was taken care of by the Doctors and Technicians of Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital.  Entire logistics at the venue were arranged by the Pakyong chapter of AXA. Medicines were provided by CMS, Health Care Human Service and Family Welfare Department and Cipla Foundation. More than 400 people registered for the medical camp and got necessary medical advice. The response was overwhelming and the Association feels the need to hold such camps at regular intervals. Cleanliness Program at PHC Pakyong East Sikkim

PRESS RELEASE Paarijat Pragati Sangh of Pakyong Samsing conducted a day long cleanliness drive program in and around the Pakyong hospital campus on 09/06/2013, Sunday. The said program was conducted in presence of Dr.Tashi Pegay M.O. I/C PHC Pakyong and the club president Mr. B.N .Khatiwada. All the 35 members of said club were present and all the members of the club wholeheartedly performed the physical and manual task of cleanliness drive. The club observed the gardening program and removed all the unwanted weeds and grasses from the campus and also planted some plants around the surroundings to    make it a healthy environment for the patients. Finally, Dr. Pegay extended her heartfelt thanks to the members of the club during small meeting after accomplishing the cleaning program in hospital hall.
