Dongeythang School Launches Philatelic Club

28.11.25: The Dongeythang Philatelic Club under the Sikkim Post Department, Gangtok, was officially inaugurated at Dongeythang Primary School on November 25th, 2025.  The initiative aims to encourage students to develop an interest in philately and understand the cultural and historical value of postage stamps. This year, seven students have been selected as the first members of the club. To mark the occasion, a stamp drawing competition on the theme “National Flag of India” was organised, where students showcased creativity and enthusiasm. Participants also explored a display of philatelic collections, including the latest postage stamp issued on Sikkim, making the event both educational and inspiring.

Crossite Philately Club opened at Holy Cross School

01.08.22, Singtam : A philately club with the name ‘Crossite’ was officially opened at Holy Cross School, Tadong on July 30, to promote stamp collection among students. Twenty students had enrolled their names on this hobby club. Sr. Florin Mary Murmu and Mukesh Kumar Jha would be the President and Secretary of the club. A philatelic talk, workshop and stamp exhibition were held on the occasion. The event was organised by the Department of Post, Government of India, Sikkim State in association with the Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society (SPNS). Samir Pradhan, Marketing Head, Gangtok Post Office presented stamps stationeries to the new stamp collectors. Roshan Prasad bag’s Large Silver in Royalpex Stamp Exhibition in New Zealand

03.03.22, Singtam : Roshan Prasad, a popular philatelist from Singtam, Sikkim has won an International Medal at  Royalpex 2021, Central Energy Trust Arena, Palmerston North, New Zealand. His  five-frame exhibits on the topic " The Story of Cricket" organized  as  per the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP) rules  won Large Silver  in the thematic class of the exhibition.  Over a hundred participants had participated in the exhibition from countries like Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, etc. He is a member of the Philatelic Congreeeof India, Emirates Philatelic Association, and Sikkim Philatelic & Numismatic Society.  Shital Pradhan, Secretary, Sikkim Philatelic and Numismatic Society has congratulated him for his success and wished him many more successes in days to come.
