Meet Smt. Puspa Chettri (Gurung) was Sikkim's first women's international player. She had represented Sikkim and the country in many International football tournaments.  She was felicitated by the Sikkim Football Association (SFA) along with many other prominent football players by His Excellency the Governor of Sikkim on the occasion of the 38th All India Governor's Gold Cup International Tournament. Rolep Secondary School observed the 67th Independence Day celebration. The chief guest of the programme was Shri Mingma Sherpa, advisor of roads and bridges for the government of Sikkim. The programme started at 9:30 a.m. The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag while the students of Rolep Secondary School presented the march past and P.T. Drill, which was an inter-house competitive programme. The yellow house won the March past competition in first position, followed by the red house in second position. SINGTAM, AUGUST 16: Dalapchand SS had won the Aritar School Challenge Cup 2013 that was held at the Lampokhari Festival Ground, Aritar. They defeated St. Joseph’s School, Rhenock with three goals to one in the final. Puran Gurung, Area MLA was the Chief Guest on the occasion. From Dalapchand SS Santosh Chettri of Class, IX scored two goals in the first half and Goutam Gurung of Class VIII added another goal in the second half. Goal Scorers from Sikkim:  Leksang Jordan Bhutia and Punol Lepcha New Delhi: Sikkim drew their last group match at the ongoing football tournament held at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium. ITO, New Delhi with the final score settling at two goals each. The Sikkim team were playing their last group match against Aachik Thunder United, from Meghalaya. The young participating Sikkimese team was all students studying at different educational institutions in New Delhi.  These youngsters were representing Sikkim at the prestigious 4 th North East RN Tamchom Football Trophy, 2010. 16 football clubs from different regions of North East India were competing for the coveted trophy which also had state-level players in respective teams. GANGTOK, June 30: Solomon Lepcha, the Chief Coach (Football) of the State Sports & Youth Affairs Department, passed away today. The 55-year-old breathed his last at around 8:30 pm at the Central Referral Hospital, 5th Mile, Tadong, after a prolonged illness. Late Lepcha, who was known to be a renowned footballer, was serving as the State Chief Coach for the last three years. He was currently coaching the students of Sports Hostel and the State Women's Football team. “We are in great sorrow on Solomon Lepcha’s untimely demise. He was the best footballer that Sikkim has ever produced. He has also contributed a lot to Sikkim Football. Girls will miss him a lot as he was the supporting pillar for women's football.
