The U25 Men’s team of Sikkim wins their match against Mizoram by 9 wickets today at Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo  in the Col.C.K Nayudu Trophy . Mizoram won the toss and choose to bat first and in the first innings Sikkim thrashed the opponent and restricted them to a total of 60 runs. MD Talim took 5 wickets conceding just 22 runs in 11 overs. Sikkim made 161 runs in the first innings where Saurav Kr Prasad made 33 runs, Anwesh Karan Sharma 31, Arun Chettri 21, Ingsho Limboo 19, and Pranesh Chettri 16. In the second innings, Sikkim built the pressure on the opponent by taking early wickets and were all-out for 135 runs giving the target of just 35 runs to win.   SICA Executive body inclusive of Councilor Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal, Honorary Secretary Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Treasurer Mr Mukesh Agarwal and Joint Secretary Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Aswin Oberoi Senior Member, Tournament Selection committee, SICA called on a meeting with the Selectors, District Convenors and 'A Division Club Representatives' to discuss matters relating to the upcoming SICA Women’s and Men’s Tournament. This consultative meeting was attended by 8 registered Senior Men’s A division clubs, 8 registered Senior Women’s A division clubs and conveners from 6 districts of Sikkim.  Rules pertaining to team formation and combination were discussed. The participants gave multiple suggestions with regards to the development of Cricket in the state and decided on formulating a plan that would provide equal opportunities to all players from the state. RANGPO, February 9, 2023 : The Executive Members of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) met the Players and support staff who are selected for the first-ever Inter-Zonal Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. Miss Leezamit Lepcha, Miss Pranita Chettri and Miss Yudenmit Lepcha will be representing the Northeast Zone from Sikkim, while the Senior Physiotherapist of SICA Miss Sheril Lepcha has been appointed as the Physiotherapist of the team.  While addressing the players and support staff the Honorary Secretary Mr Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, Jt. Secretary Mr Gopal Sharma Dahal, Councillor Mr Karma Jigme Namgyal and Member Mr Rajen Gurung gave a special thanks to Miss Kikam Bhutia - Senior women’s coach, who on the call from SICA spared her time and trained the girls before leaving for the tournament. The executives on behalf of the entire Sikkim Cricket Association wish the team the best of luck for the upcoming tournament.

Three women cricketers from Sikkim have been selected to represent North East Zone in the Inter-Zonal Senior Women’s One-Day Tournament, scheduled to start on 12 th February. The women players for the North East Zone was shortlisted at a meeting of selectors and office bearers of North East state cricket bodies held in Guwahati on 3 rd February. The meeting had the presence of Mamon Majumdar, Member, Apex Council, BCCI, and Nabam Vivek, Zonal Convener. Sikkim Cricket Association was represented by President Tika Subba, Honorary Secretary Rinzing Nangyal Bhutia and Selector Karma Thendup. Sikkim defeated Manipur by 8 wickets in its first-ever Ranji Trophy match held on the soil of Sikkim. The two captains of the Sikkim Cricket Team and the Manipur Cricket Team There were many personal bests from the match, Nilesh Lamichanay scoring 74 (113) with 13 fours was a gem of the inning and won him Man of the Match .   The Duleep Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. It was earlier played between five Indian zonal teams – North Zone, South Zone , East Zone , West Zone and Central Zone on a knock-out basis. Sikkim ’s Ankur Mallik 's eight-wicket hauls in both the innings helped the Sikkim U-25 team defeat Arunachal Pradesh with 248 runs in the ongoing Col.C.K Nayudu Trophy held at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha . Nayudu Trophy” , defeating Nagaland on their third match of the league round by 174 runs today at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.   Sikkim won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings, Sikkim scored 394 runs, where Ankur Mallik played a record-breaking knock of 225 runs, Suraj Gupta (40), Arun Chettri (38), Anwesh Karan Sharma (29), Rahul Kumar (18), and Robin Limboo (16) not-out.   The Under 25 Men’s team of Sikkim led by Anwesh Karan Sharma playing the multi-day tournament “Col. C. K. Nayudu Trophy” in Odisha, has defeated the Mizoram in their second match of the tournament by an innings and 55 runs today at DRIEMS Ground, Cuttak, Odisha and registered their first victory of the season. The four-day match was concluded in just two and half-day by the brilliant team effort of Sikkim. Sikkim won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first innings of Sikkim, they scored 289 runs, where Saurav Kumar Prasad was the highest scorer for Sikkim making 91 runs, well supported by Arun Chettri (51), Jeetendra Sharma (33), Tarun Sharma (32), Ingsho Limboo (23), Anwesh (18), Ankur Malik (13) and Roshan Prasad (10). SICA President Shri Lobzang G Tenzing inaugurated the double concrete cricket pitch constructed at Legship, West Sikkim The program was wonderfully organized by Legship Cricket Club and its members. The program was attended by Zilla Panchayat Member Shri. Bal Bahadur Rai who has continuously supported the cricket fraternity in the locality. He was instrumental in the construction, preparation of the playground. The ground is fully equipped to accommodate local sporting programs.  Cricket in Sikkim has seen exponential growth in the last several years through SICA’s continuous effort and with individuals like Shri Bal Bahadhur Rai and active members of LCC supporting the Association, the future seems even brighter for the young players and children of the State.

Sikkim played in its second match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy at Eden Gardens, Kolkata against Bihar from 24 th  February to 27 th  February 2022. The match which seemed dominated by Bihar in its first innings turned the other way around which saw Sikkim take the first-innings lead gaining 3 point(s) and drawing the match. Sikkim won the toss and chose to field first. In the first innings,  Bihar declared their innings with a total of 431 runs for the loss of 9 wickets . GANGTOK (SIKKIM), DECEMBER 21, 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Mr Lobzang G Tenzing, President of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), as the Manager of the India Under-19 Team that will play in the Asia Cup tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in the UAE from December 23 and ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in West Indies from January 14. BCCI Secretary named Mr Tenzing as the Under-19 Team Manager for the Asia Cup tournament to be played from December 23 to 31 and ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup to be played from January 14 to February 5, 2022. The Under 19 Men’s Team of Sikkim is currently playing Cooch Behar Trophy (multi-day tournament) and in their second match against Meghalaya, they won the match by 31 runs, earning 6 points.   Meghalaya won the toss and choose to field first. In the first innings, Sikkim scored 172 runs where Roshan Prasad scored 41 runs, Ankur Malik 32, MD Arif 29, Purna Bdr Bhattrai 26, Tarun Sharma 21 and Arun Chettri 10 runs. In Meghalaya’s first innings they were all-out for 187 runs and were leading by 15 runs. Ankur Malik took 8 runs for the side. In the second innings, Sikkim scored 141 runs and gave the target of 127 runs to win. Ankur scored 55 runs, MD Arif 30, Arun 17, and Tarun 14 runs. Sikkim Cricket Association Condemns the false statement made by Mr. Bhaichung Bhutia, who now on several occasions has passed false remarks recklessly before the press, wherein he repeatedly stated that SICA receives grant in aid to a tune of Rs. 15 to 20 Crores per year. This is entirely false and we urge Mr. Bhaichung to get his facts checked before speaking out against other associations or sporting bodies, who are only trying their best to help the state of Sikkim and its people. SICA would also take this opportunity to inform the general public that all and any grants received by us are in the public domain and have been made available for anyone interested, through the BCCI website. Sikkim Cricket Association conducted an awareness program/meeting for the parents and guardians of the cricket players and children of Sikkim. The parents and guardians from all districts of Sikkim were invited to Gangtok. In the meeting the parents were apprised of the camps that are being conducted by SICA at Rangpo Sikkim Cricket Ground from 01/12/2021 till 02/01/2022 for the U-16 boys of the state. The floor was kept open for any suggestions, especially for families who live in the remote areas of Sikkim as it is a challenge keeping them informed regarding the various activities that are regularly being conducted. We hope that such interactions will help bridge the gap if any and improve information sharing and communication. 

Sikkim registered a consecutive win today against Mizoram in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at ACA Cricket ground, Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh. Mizoram won the toss and choose to bat first. In the first innings, they scored 109 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Uday Kaul was the highest scorer for the side, scoring 69 runs. Karthik CA took 2 wickets and Sumit Singh and Mandup Bhutia took 1 wicket each. In the second innings, Sikkim chased the target in 17.4 overs without losing a wicket and won the match by 10 wickets. Karthik CA scored 61 runs and Liyan Khan scored 48 runs.   Sikkim’s senior men’s team is currently playing Syed Mushtaq Ali (Twenty20) at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and today during their match against Arunachal Pradesh they won it by 9 wickets. Andhra won the toss and choose to bat first. In the first innings, Sikkim bowlers built pressure on the opponent from the beginning as the opening pair returned to the pavilion early and also managed to take wickets at a regular interval. Arunachal were all-out for 90 runs in 19.1 overs. Akash Luitel the debutant in the senior team has taken 4 wickets, and MD Saptula, Kranthi Kumar, Kranthi CA and Sumit Singh took 1 wicket each. In the second innings, Sikkim had the opening partnership of 20 runs, with Karthik CA scoring 14 runs, Liyan Khan 37 runs and remained not-out, and Ashish Thapa 38 runs not-out and chased the target of 91 runs in 14.1 overs. Sikkim beat Arunachal Pradesh in the fourth match of the ongoing Senior Women’s One Day Trophy by 6 wickets yesterday at Salt Lake, Kolkata.  Sikkim won the toss and elected to field first. In the first innings, Arunachal were all-out for 74 runs in 37.3 overs. Class bowling by all the bowlers of Sikkim was showcased during the match that restricted the opponent to a low score. Manizha Mumtaz took 4 wickets conceding just 11 runs in 9 overs, Pranita Chettri 3 wickets, and Tabita Subba 2 wickets. In the second innings, Sikkim chased the target of 75 runs in 27.1 overs. Sikkim Cricketer Ankur Malik has been selected to play in the upcoming Under 19 Men’s One Day Trophy to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 25 th  October to 10 th  November 2021. This is for the second time after Amos Rai who was selected for Zonal Cricket in the year 2000 that the player has been selected to play in the higher division of the Domestic Tournament.  Ankur Malik aged 17, has been part of the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy and gave a remarkable performance in the tournament. Out of five league matches, Sikkim played only four matches (one match was abandoned due to rain). He scored 205 runs in four matches and took 16 wickets. He was ranked 3 rd  best in bowling and 21 st  in batting order in all of India.
