World Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day observed at Ralap SS

SINGTAM, JUNE 26: Awareness programme on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held at Ralap Secondary School today. The major highlight of the programme was the rally participated by the school staff, students and their parents, Panchayat members and others. Sharmila Chettri, Panchayat Secretary, Ralap Dung Dung GPU was the Chief Guest while Bishal Sunar, Panchayat Ralap Ward was the Special Guest on the occasion. The programme stated with the speech by KN Dhakal, Teacher, Ralap SS. Dorjee Sherpa, Headmaster, Ralap SS in his address spoked about the importance of the day. He appealed the students to stay away from social ills. Sherpa also informed the gathering about the theme for the year 2014, “A message of hope, drug use disorders are preventable and treatable” and talked in brief about it. Marathon Runner passes away after completing the Anti Drug Marathon Race 2013 at SIngtam

Marathon runner Pempa Sherpa from Bardang aged 18 (circled in black at the above pic) was found unconscious after completing his marathon race at Anti Drug Marathon 2013 held yesterday at Singtam on the occasion of the 64th Republic Day. Sherpa was immediately rushed to Singtam District Hospital after the checking by the medical team present at the race where the young runner passed away. The people of Singtam found shock on hearing the news. The organiser committee of the marathon race Singtam Police Station and JVC Football Club has decided to     pay tribute to the late runner at every Republic Day and termed him Saheed. The marathon race started from Singtam Traffic till Ralap and back to Singtam Traffic. there were three category in the marathon race. Subarna Subba from Kuersong won the senior category.

Phadamchen SS observes International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Dalapchand, June 26 : International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated at Phadamchen SS yesterday. The program was organized by SSB Phadamchen and supported by Phadamchen SS and Jan Kalyan Nehru Sangh, Phadamchen. “ Think Health and not drugs ” was the theme of this year observation. Awareness speeches along with interaction and discussion with the students were the highlight of the day log function. Dorjee T Sherpa, Headmaster Phadamchen SS was the Chief Guest of the day that also included other distinguished guest in RN Yarmi, Inspector SSB and his other officials, Raju Jairu, NGO representation from Jan Kalyan Nehru Sangh, Phadamchen, locals, teachers and students of Phadamchen SS. SDF Youths initiate awareness campaigns against social diseases

SINGTAM: Gangaa Mukhia and Karma Gyurmi Bhutia from Singtam and Pandam are among two dozen local SDF youths who has been visiting Schools and organization in and around Sikkim creating awareness among the masses against socials evils of the society. Two youth had visited Singtam Senior Secondary School and Khamdong Senior Secondary School last Saturday and interacted with the teachers and the students and later they also visited Khamdong BAC.   The next day they participated at the 31 st Basibiyalo literary meet at Singtam Community Hall and shared their views and motives with the gathered audiences. Gangaa Mukhia told this reporter “It was nice to receive wonderful feedbacks from the students and teachers of Singtam SSS and Khamdong SSS. The students took active parts in the interactive sessions and we discussed on different topics of aids awareness, drugs abuses and the role of youth in making better society”.
