New Delhi, December 11: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday submitted its probe report to the Supreme Court on the citizenship issue of Congress parliamentarian from Assam Mani Kumar Subba after dilly-dallying on the matter for nearly a year. The CBI submitted its report in a sealed cover to the bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice R.V. Raveendran. The bench will decide later whether to make the report public. The CBI had begun the probe into the citizenship of the Assam lottery baron on the directions of the apex court. The court had issued the direction while adjudicating a public interest lawsuit questioning Subba's citizenship. The petition had been filed by Noida resident Birendra Nath Singh, who had alleged that the Lok Sabha MP from Tezpur was a Nepalese citizen and had come to India after a murder case was registered against him there in the early 1970s.
