Singtam, February 24: The State Level National Integration Camp concluded at Singtam Community Hall today. The week-long camp (February 18-24) was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Sikkim and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affair and Sports, Government of India. More than 150 participants from seven states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and the host state of Sikkim had participated in the camp. Kalpana Moktan, Upadhakshya Zilla Panchayat (East) was the Chief Guest of the day. SINGTAM, JANUARY 26: Sadbhawana Samiti, one of the oldest running social organizations at Singtam observed its 17 th Foundation Day along with the 64 th Republic Day today at its Crech Centre, Topakhani. Dr..Dwarika Niraula was the Chief Guest on the occasion. SINGTAM, SEPTEMBER 7:   The seven ICDS of Singtam and its surrounding observed the National Nutrition Week on September 6 at Singtam Mandir Line ICDS. The seven ICDS that included Mandir Line, SNT Complex, Daragoan, Goskhan Dara and Mandi Bazaar had also organized the day long program. Bishnu Maya Sherpa, Secretary, Singtam Nagar Panchayat was the Chief Guest of the day. Nepal’s singing celebrity Anju Pant’s much sought after nepali song “Na Birse Timilai” found a new breathe of life when a   mujra was performed at Namchi Municipal Corporation Hall, last Saturday on March 30, 2012.   Probably the first Nepali mujra performed at any form of stage in Sikkim, Sushma Chettri, Director and Proprietor of Step Dance Sensation Academy (SDSA) won hearts for her marvelous performance. The auditorium was filled with applause and the gathered Namchi audience mesmerized with the performance of the evening. The occasion was the inaugural function of the Step Dance Sensation Academy at Namchi. Dalapchand, March 23: Generous Student Dalapchand Secondary School, a student forum of Dalapchand SS in association with Badhaichha Creation, Singtam observed the World Water Day at the school premises yesterday. Two hour short program had Inter-House Speech and Quiz Competition related to water topics. Present on the occasion was ST Bhutia, Headmaster of the school, his staff and Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director of Badhaichha Creation.   Prizes for the story writing competition organized by Red Ribbon Club Spark NGO, Singtam were also distributed.   Prakash Poudhyal, CRC Coordinator and teacher of the school was the host of the day while Sonam Dorjee Bhutia, GT (Bio) was the Quiz Master. Sikkim became part of the mighty Indian Union in 1975, and in the last 37 years, a small Himalayan kingdom has transformed itself into one of the most beautiful tourist centers in the world. The same year, a milestone was accomplished in Sikkim in the world of Indian Cinema, but more than three decades later, the story seems forgotten by the wheel of the clock. I wanted to be part of the history of reintroducing the stories of Romeo in Sikkim, a Hindi film with a few landmarks still unknown to many. Romeo in Sikkim is the first Hindi film produced by Sikkim and the first Nepali actor to lead in a Bollywood film (Shyam Pradhan). Shyam Pradhan went on to act in another film, the first Hindi-Nepali bilingual feature film that never saw the light of day.
